Nice Sheep's...
As we wrap up the sheepshead season and began changing gears to other species - Jim, Larry and Dean did a fine job catching some good ones. I'll be targeting sheepshead for about two more weeks and then hopefully, the cobia will show up. The gang today had a nice catch, but we had to work a bit as the tide was running hard and keeping the shrimp on the bottom was a bit of a challenge. A good day though and I thank you all as always... Capt. Dan
Better Weather...
It was still breezy today, but the conditions were so much better and definitely more fish able today. Dan, Lauren and Big Fish Bob were my guests and the team did very well. The day went so smooth, as the sheepshead and trout cooperated nicely. The sheepshead were in there usual haunts and the trout were in the creeks with DOA glow jerk baits, being the flavor of the day for them. A super fun day and great job fellas... Capt. Dan
More WIND!!!
Once again the gusty East wind was our conditions today and it made it quite tough. I had Joe and Joanne on board and I was able to briefly make a sheepshead stop, catch a few; but the conditions quickly chased us back in to shore. The wind didn't allow much for the tide to come in, but we did pick up a nice lower slot red fish and a beautiful Crystal River snook to add to the day. It was a tough one, but I thank you all for the great time... Capt. Dan
Offshore Crystal River...
A picture perfect day offshore with Ryan and Shane on board and these guys did awesome. We ran right away to the sheepshead grounds and the bite was good. Sheepshead, grunts, grouper and a whopper black drum kept us busy and it sure was some fun and steady fishing. Next up, we ran down dome triple tail and the fellas found three nice keepers to add to the day. I hope this weather continues and great job team... Capt. Dan
Fun Day...
A really fun day with Bill, Dave and Bryan on board and it sure was good to come out of "retirement". From my lack of posts, the weather has been absolutely horrible with rain and gusty winds causing me to cancel several trips. Today though, the conditions were favorable and we were able to get the day in. Sheepshead were the species of the day and the team did really good. We sent set down some shrimp on knocker rigs and it was quite good. The rods stayed bent and a fine catch filled out our day... Capt. Dan
St. Patty Sheep's...
Another gorgeous day on the big pond with the Clements party and the team did outstanding. Non stop sheepshead action began our day and the rods were busy. We put our fifteen in the box and then began hunting triple tail. We got lucky and found a floating log that had several under it and we picked up a pair of nice keepers. A trout and red finished up the day on the inside and I thank you all for the really great day... Capt. Dan
Almost a Record...
A really good day with Lee on board and we had beautiful conditions, to do a little bit of everything. Sheepshead was our main target and we caught some hefty ones. I was fishing too and as my rod went off,I hooked in to a beast. Well, long story short; it was my personal and largest sheepshead to date on board and turned out to be just 1lb from the state record. She did get released and hopefully in the future I will encounter her again. We finished up the day jigging up a couple trout, red fish and a very memorable day is in the books. I thank you Lee and here's the big girl of the day... Capt. Dan
Good Sheep's...
A rough day yesterday as it was howling and I mean howling; out of the NE and limited me on what I could do. We caught a couple nice trout, but that's all I could make happen. Today though - the sea's were down and I could make it out to sheepshead land with the Citrus Fishing Club and the guys did extremely well. I dropped the team on a couple 20ft ledges and live shrimp on knocker rigs kept us busy. I thank you all for a fun day and great job team... Capt. Dan
COLD Sheep's...
A big drop in the temperature and all I can say is thank goodness for sheepsheaed. There was absolutely nothing happening on the inside as the water temperature was in the upper 50's. So, I made the run offshore around noon and we dropped down to some very cooperative sheepshead. The team caught some real nice ones and I thank you all for the fun and "chilly" day... Capt Dan
Crystal River Mix...
What another good haul for Phil on board, for day two. We pretty much did the exact same drill as yesterday, but we caught our trout in the morning. Sheepshead were on the same structures and so were the triple tail. Some of the largest sheepshead of the year put bends in the rods, and a couple were over 10lbs. Two really great days and I thank you as always for the fun time - and you make the best sandwiches... Capt. Dan
