An awesome mixed bag today out of Crystal River with Jason and Deanna on board and it sure was good to be in the sunshine. I picked up the couple at the Plantation on Crystal River and we began the day targeting red fish. Our first stop produced four nice keepers and then the dolphins showed up and shut us down. With a fine of red fish on live shrimp, we made our way west and anchored down on some ledges. Grunts, mangrove snapper, lady fish and mackerel kept us busy while we sent down live shrimp on knocker rigs. The action was great, but I wanted to try a favorite spot to add a grouper to the mix. So, we made a couple mile run and found the gags. The grouper bite was excellent and we were able to turn three fine keepers, plus a couple got the best of us as well. A fantastic day with finally some great weather - I thank you both for the great time... Capt. Dan
A shortened trip today due to the weather of course, but we were able to get a couple hours in. Tommy and Rodney were on board with me for the day and even though the forecast wasn't good, we gave it a try. I stayed close to the salt river area with storms on the horizon and we caught three nice keepers red fish, some shorts and a handful of snapper on a couple stops. Free lined live shrimp around the points were our baits of the day and it sure was good to be back on the water - even though it was just for a short amount of time. I'm hoping the weather pattern changes soon and thank you both for a fun morning... Capt. Dan
Not to favorable to make it out the last couple of days. On and off rain storms and a steady SW wind have made it cumbersome to make it offshore. Hopefully, the weather pattern will change in a couple days and we'll be back on the water.... Capt. Dan
We had to go to plan B today and our original goal of grouper fishing just wasn't going to happen. I had Jeff, Manny and Jeff of board in hopes of digging up some gags. We made it to the bait stop and filled the live well with pin fish, but the storms built quickly and some had a few water spouts. So, we left the outside and hid in the back country and free lined live pin fish on the rocky points. The guys caught a couple fine mid slot reds to make the day a success and we called it a day after the tide topped out. Thank you all for the fun time and look forward to doing it again soon. Here's Manny with a salt rive red fish that couldn't resist a live pin fish.. Capt. Dan
