I had my annual long distance clients from Maine on board today and we were all set to find some trout and red fish. Janet and Brian met me at Pete's Pier this morning to an incoming tide, so we ran to the keys and picked up a couple red fish. Free lined live shrimp, presented in with the mullet schools, brought our red fish to the boat. Next, we jigged up a few keeper trout offshore, but the bite was pretty slow. The breeze stopped, the heat turned on and with enough fish for dinner, we called it a day. I always enjoy spending the day you both and have fun at Riverside Crab house dinning on your catch. Here's Janet with her first red fish... Capt. Dan
I had a one angler 1/2 day charter today out of Crystal River. Mark was on board and ready to catch a few fish. We started out the morning trying a few locations in hopes of a snook, but there were no takers today. However, we did catch a few mangrove snapper and jacks to get warmed up. Next we ran offshore to the deeper spotty bottom areas and jigged up some trout. The trout bite was pretty good and we caught several keepers and released more shorts than we could count. The DOA holographic root beer shrimp was today's bait of choice. It was just after noon, and we called it a day. Thanks Mark for the fun morning and look forward to our next trip... Capt. Dan
It was a hot one today out of Crystal River and Vic, Jeff and Joe had a great 1/2 day charter. We left Pete's Pier at 8am and ran offshore and jigged up some trout. The trout bite was outstanding and for an hour and a half, we had a trout on our line just about every cast. Numerous under slot trout were the majority of the catch, but we did manage 10 keepers in all the action. For a change of pace, we left the trout and anchored up on a rock pile to see what else we could find. The guys brought in some grunts, released some grouper and added a couple mackerel to the mix. We called it a day just after noon and another beautiful (and hot) day out of Crystal River. Thanks again for the fun day and hope to see you soon... Capt. Dan
Today's charter was little bit of a change, we did an afternoon 1/2 day charter out of Homosassa. Gene, Linda and Paige met me at Macrae's at noon and we spent the afternoon casting jigs and catching a fun variety of species. We fished in the 10ft depth range and picked up several keeper speckled trout and a few silvers to add to the mix. DOA near clear shrimp and camo gulp shrimp were today's top producers and young Paige was reeling them in like a pro. We realeased a few keepers and kept just enough for a meal. Thank you all for a great afternoon and here is today's prize pompano... Capt. Dan
