Another fantastic day at the Homosassa fishing Club. Myself and Captains Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt, Charlie Harris, Jim Long and Mike Locklear fished the Dr. Kokko party to a busy fish catching day. We fished a 1/2 day trout fishing in the morning, took a break for a shore lunch with all the fixings and then finished up the day red fishing. The trout fishing was steady in the morning and Eric and John had 6 keepers before lunch. The DOA shrimp in the stark naked color was the hot color. After lunch, the tide was ripping in and we found the red fish. We boated 8 reds up to 26" and once again a Blue Water Bait and Tackle live shrimp did the trick. Thanks guys for the awesome day and here is Eric with the big red fish of the day... Capt. Dan
I met Rick and Sue today for a 1/2 day charter out of Crystal River. We had a later tide today, so I suggested leaving at 10am and it turned out to be the perfect decision. We spent the first hour and a half throwing some DOA deadly combos, and caught several trout. A couple made it over the 15"mark and kept a few for dinner. Next, off the creeks and the red fishing was on. We boated 13 red fish on 3 points and a free lined live shrimp was the ticket. It was a great afternoon and made it back to Pete's Pier just after 2pm. Thank you both for the fun time and here is today's catch... Capt. Dan
With September being a fantastic month for red fish; Jim ,Terry and Jimmy came back up for a fun charter out of Homosassa. I have fished these guys several times now and they say each trip gets even better. We met at Macrae's at 8am, ran out the little Homosassa and immediately found a school of red fish. The first four cast were hook ups but they all fell a little shy of making it to the keeper size. Finally Jimmy hooked a beautiful 26" keeper and the rest soon followed. After our limit of reds were ran offshore caught a few trout and mixed up the day catching a bonus grouper. The big fights of the day was when Terry and Jimmy hooked into two large rays in the 50lb range and gave them a workout they won't soon forget. Thanks guys for another successful charter and here is today's mixed catch of red fish, trout and grouper... Capt. Dan
With a special request from Mrs. Capt. Dan, I kept Saturday open for her to catch a few grouper. I wanted to check out some of my north numbers and with prime grouper season is just a few weeks away,I was anxious to see if anybody was home. We loaded up the live well with pinfish, passed the spoil banks ( which looked like a parking lot) and ran out to 20ft of water. We stopped on a few rocks and nothing much was there other than a few shorts. This is to be expected because larger grouper this time of year are typically holding on ledges rather than isolated rocks. Our next stop was a good break and we found the keepers. We boated 7 keepers but only kept two for a couple meals. We safely released the others for my upcoming charters. The fall is looking good and here is Becky with a couple nice gags... Capt. Dan
