Ice on the boat this morning folks, and yes it was a cold one. I had Jeff and Helen on board for a 1/2 day trip and we found a few. The bite was slow as the gulf is still in the mid 50's, but we found enough sheepshead for a meal or two. Live shrimp on a light 1/8thoz jig head did the trick and I thank you both.... Capt. Dan
What a fun day to spend my birthday with my good friend Hunter as we fished one of my favorite places, the Rainbow River. I love that crystal clear water and we did very well. We totaled over 20 bass for the day - no giants but several couple pounders on a variety of lures. From whacky worms to top water pugs; all produced very well. A great dat buddy and I thank you.... My goodness, probably the coldest I've been on the water in sometime; but we made it happen. It's been tough to make it out lately between the weather and my treatments I've been doing. Today though, was definitely doable, just the cold to contend with and we did well. I had the boys on board and we stayed busy offshore with grunts, snapper, grouper and sheepshead. A busy day catching and live shrimp was our bait of choice... Capt. Dan
A great sheepshead opener with Dan, Joe and Lauren out of Crystal River. We fished a couple different pieces of hard bottom and caught a few on each drop. Mostly smaller males we encountered, with just a couple larger females mixed in. The spawn usually starts in to next month and March when we find the big sheep's. A great day, good conditions and I thank you all... Capt. Dan
