More River Trout. Jan.14th 2010

With the extreme cold temperatures from the last several days, the trout have really congregated in the holes in the rivers. I had Sam and John on the boat today for a 1/2 day charter out of Crystal River. Today was one of those very low tide days and we had ice on the boat for the first couple of hours. The nearby springs pump out a constant 72 degree water temperature, so a long boat ride in search of warm water is not necessary to find fish. We caught several nice keeper trout right away and DOA jerk baits in the golden bream color was the hot bait. After the trout bite slowed, we caught numerous lady fish and mangrove snapper to finish up our morning. Thank you both for a great time and look forward to our next trip. Here is Sam with his first keeper trout, great job.. Capt. Dan
