Sight fishing Reds Feb. 18th 2010

I hope everyone is doing well and staying warm. This is the coldest and most blustery winter I can ever remember. Day after day of high winds have caused me to reschedule charters for more favorable conditions. However, spring is just around the corner ( I hope). Today my good friend Capt. Kyle Messier and myself  had the day off and we did some scouting for some upcoming charters we have in the coming week. We took his tunnel hull skiff and ran the numerous creeks and mangrove islands from Crystal River to Homosassa. We saw several good schools of trout and redfish. The majority of the redfish were in the upper to over slot size and the trout looked healthy as well. After seeing the high numbers of fish today, the coming weeks should be fantastic. We did more scouting than fishing but I did make a cast or two and sight casted this hefty 32" redfish. Thanks Kyle as always and I'll see you all on the water.... Capt. Dan
