Offshore Trout...

It's just about that time, when you can run offshore a couple miles and find a mixed bag of fish. I had the Blood family on board and we did just that. I ran the guys out to about 6ft to 8ft of water and made some long drifts. The actions wasn't fast, but we found some trout, sea bass, blue fish and mackerel to kept us busy. MirrOlure Lil' Johns in the bourbon and root beer colors were the baits today. We left the outside and made our way inside to find some red fish. Only shorts again for us, but fun all the same. I thank you all for the fun time and look forward to see you again... Capt. Dan

An afternoon 1/2 day trip with Bryant, Cliff and Logan and we found a couple nice trout. We left the dock at noon and fished the late incoming tide. After yesterdays monsoon, I was glad to find some fish. We had a stiff NW wind to contend with, so we drifted inside the keys to find the trout. Glow DOA jerk baits were the bait of the day and we picked up a few under slot reds to end our trip. A fun time and I thank you all for the great afternoon... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Limit!!!

I wasn't sure how today was going to turn out with the weather predictions, but it ended up being a great day. I was at the Homosassa Fishing Club with my great fellow Homosassa Guides Association Captains Mark Zorn, Mike Baize and Jonathan Hamilton and we fished the Calhoun party. John, Dennis and Phil were my guests for the day and we made a day targeting trout. The action was a slow steady "if that makes sense," and we picked up a couple keepers all day. DOA glow jerk baits were the hot bait of the day and from the outer keys to the mouths of the creeks; all produced equally. All the boats did well and I can't thank you enough for the great day. Here's my crew with a fine Homosassa limit of trout... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Snook....

A tough one today for big numbers of fish, but my ladies team caught a nice Crystal River slam. Ellie and Ellen were my guests for the day and this was their annual Black Diamond fishing tournament trip. The residents of Black Diamond golf community have a yearly tournament and the members hire guides to fish the tournament. I was lucky to have this ladies team and they did fine. The day was quite breezy and cold which made conditions tough, but I believe they secured the big fish prize with Ellen's monster snook. This one is going to be a tough fish to beat in the big fish category and I hope she wins the prize. A couple trout and small red fish also filled out the day and I can't thank you both enough for the fun time... Capt. Dan

A special treat for me today and I had my first charter with some over seas clients on board. I met the group at the Plantation on Crystal River and we made our way to the flats. (The guys introduced their names, but please excuse me, I can't remember)..... Well, I kept it simple for fishing, anchored up on a couple rock piles and chummed in some macks. The tide was pretty weak going out, but we had a nice variety of mackerel, grouper, sea bass, lady fish and sharks. The gang enjoyed every minute and I made some great memories for them. I thank you all for the wonderful time and I hope to fish with you in the years to come... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Day Two...

Day two for the Homosassa Fishing Club Jaboree and Nancy and Uhon were my guests. I had originally planned on going offshore to chum up some macks, but the pretty steady SW wind pushed in a little bit of tide and I was anxious to hit the keys for some trout. I set up a good drift on some hard "yellow" bottom and with glow DOA jerk baits on hand, the bite was great. In just a couple drifts, the team had their limit and even added a couple mackerel to the catch. A great couple days for this yearly event ( especially the oyster shore lunch today ) and I always look forward to seeing you all... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Trout......

Today was day one of the annual Homosassa Fishing Club Jaboree and what a fun day. I had the pleasure of having the husband and wife team of Ryland and Carol on board. Ryland and Carol worked the shallow rock bars and troughs out side the Little Homosassa River and found the trout. The Jaboree is an annual event with the club members and it's husband and wife teams. This was an eight boat party and some fine trout, mackerel, pompano and sea bass were caught. Myself and Capt. Rick Spratt tied for top boat honors with nine keepers before our afternoon shore lunch. The shore lunch was fantastic and what a great day on the Homosassa river. I thank all the club members and my good fellow Homosassa guides for the great time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Steady Action...

A pretty incredible day offshore Crystal River and Sharon, Bill and Pam got to experience it. I picked up the gang at Pete's Pier Marina a little after 8am and headed West. The forecast was calling for very favorable conditions, but the winds picked up a bit and it was choppy with a good swell mixed in. We toughed out the ride, anchored on one break and it was ON! Evey drop produced a sheepshead, grunt or grouper and I was a busy boy. The team had to bring a bunch of fish in to feed the big family in town and I think they did just that. With a box full, we called it a day and even picked up a bonus triple tail on a buoy to top off the trip. I thank you all for the excellent day and congratulations on an outstanding catch... Capt. Another fun trip offshore on the sheepshead grounds and the action sure was great. I had the please of having Jim, Andrew and Eric on board and they had a ball. We left from Pete's Pier Marina and made our initial run to about 17ft of water and anchored down. One stop was all it took and we loaded up on the sheepshead. The seas were great, with just a slow roll and it even calmed some for the ride in. The team put a excellent catch in the box to secure a great fish dinner while on vacation and plenty to take back home. We picked up a couple trout in the creeks to end the day and I thank you all for the great day... Capt. Dan

Tough Trout...

I guess I have to have one of those days when the fish get the best of you and today was definitely mine. I had a great couple on board, Jamie and Richard and we spent the day working for some trout. The heavy rains from Monday definitely cooled the water some and the steady NW wind made it a bit bumpy, but I just couldn't get anything going. From the North shore to St. Martins, I covered some ground. We picked up three keeper trout and lost a couple and that was it. There is always no guarantee and that's why they call it fishing ( but I like the catching, especially for my clients)... I thank you both for the fun time and look forward to seeing you again. Here's Jamie with one of the days trout.. Capt. Dan
