Wow ... What a day! The winds calmed down and we were able to make it offshore and find the grouper. As bad as I wanted to make it offshore yesterday, it was just to rough and today the weather was in our favor. Rick, Blake and Mario were with me for the day and we hit it out of the park. After a bait stop inshore, we headed west to the grouper grounds and it was awesome. Gags and red grouper were on the same structures and the bite was on. The team caught an awesome limit and I was glad to be a part of the day. Thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to our next Crystal River charter... Capt. Dan

Gags, Grunts & Mangos....

A little bumpy out there today on the big pond, but we made a good day of it and had a fine catch. William, John and Cooter were on board with me for the day and we were set to tackle some gag grouper. The winds were up for the morning and after a bait stop on the flats, we hit one of my favorite ledges. The gags were on the feed with the out going tide and we turned one real nice keeper - but a handful of break offs got the best of us on that spot. The rest of the shallow water grouper day was a bit slow with short gags coming aboard and the big ones just didn't want play. The team did catch a nice box full of mangrove snapper and grunts to ensure a fine fish fry for the evening. I thank you guys for the fun time as always and look forward to seeing you again soon... Crystal River Sight Fishing....

I fired up the silver king skiff today and Ray and I did some sight fishing. Today's conditions were perfect for looking for tailing red fish and with a 11am low tide, we poled the flats. We hit the mouth of the river just before 9am, made our run and I hoped on the poling platform. The tide was way low and the red fish had dropped off the shorelines and on the shallow flats. Ray did a fine job catching a couple lower slot red fish on spoons and we had the hook pull on a bruiser that was tailing on the back of a sting ray. A surprise snook again grabbed the spoon off the point of an exposed oyster bar and they are always a welcomed catch. A fun day and I always enjoy poling around and trying to sight fish a few fish... Homosassa Mix...

A big mix today in Homosassa and we had a slam and then some... I had the pleasure of having Tony, Donna, Chris and Beth on board and we caught the whole spectrum. Trout on DOA deadly combos began our trip just off the keys, but I'll tell you the water is extremely dirty from the high winds from the previous days. With a couple trout in the box, we made a run to the rocks and the water clarity was even worse. I had to fish off my numbers, mark the rocks and fish accordingly. The snapper and grunt bite was great though and a couple grouper kept us busy as well. To end the day on the incoming tide, we hit the outer keys and caught some fine red fish to top off the day. A great day and it was good to see some nice weather again. Thank you all for the great time and here's Chris and Beth with a Homosassa snook... Capt. Dan

Definitely a plan B move today to save the day, as grouper fishing just wasn't going to happen. I had the Womble group on board and we wanted to give it a try. We reached the mouth of the river just after 8am and were greeted to white caps and the first stiff NE breeze of the upcoming fall season. I made a run to the North Shore, made a couple drifts and we picked up a few trout on DOA deadly combo rigs. The tide was extremely low and the guys did well for the tough conditions. We called it a day just before noon and had a fine lunch at Lollygaggers Sports Grill to end the day. Thank you all for the good time and here's Brad with a couple Crystal River trout... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Red Grouper....

Another good day on the grouper grounds with the Stribling party and we found the red grouper again. For those of you that don't know, we've had a red tide offshore this year in the deeper region and it has pushed the red grouper in shallow. I've been targeting the 25ft range and the red grouper action has been unbelievable. Cut thread fin herring and live pin fish have been the baits and they have worked fantastic. On today's trip we had a 1pm shore lunch on schedule, so we made a quick run offshore and caught some fine grouper. The shore lunch was awesome with fried grouper, red fish, grunts and snapper. Two great days of fishing and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Heavy Weights...

Wow!!! A big haul today offshore Homosassa and the grouper bite was on. I was at the Homosassa Fishing Club fishing the Stribling party with my great friends Capt. Mark Zorn, William Toney and Rick Sprat and we all had an awesome day. I took my crew offshore to the 30ft range and the red grouper bite was unbelievable. We caught close to twenty keeper sized red grouper and some fine gags for the day. A combination of live pin fish and cut thread fin herring were the baits of the day. Slick cam conditions made for an easy ride offshore and I thank you all for the great day. Here's Yancey, Keith and David with a fine catch of grouper... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Shallow Rocks....

A good day on the shallow rocks, but those big grouper whipped us today. I had Joe and Casey on board for the day and the guys did great. Catching pin fish began our trip and with a live well full of goodies, we headed west. I stopped on a ledge that's been covered over with mangrove snapper and once again they were there. Live shrimp kept the rods bent with snapper, grunts, lady fish, jacks and small gags. The team caught their limit of mango's and we headed to a couple grouper spots. We were able to turn a nice keeper, lots of shorts and numerous big dogs broke us off. That's grouper fihsing in shallow water and hopefully we'll turn them next time. Thank you both for the great day and look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Offshore Trout.

A really good 1/2 day of fishing and shore lunch at the Homosassa Fishing Club with the Smith party. I had the pleasure of fishing Tom and Marshall Sr. & Jr. for the day and we made some drifts for some trout. We made the run to about 10ft of water off Mkr #2 and used a combination DOA cal shad tail jigs and MirrOlure provoker soft plastics. The bite was good and we put nine fine trout in the cooler and a couple sea bass while we fished just after noon. The shore lunch was absolutely fantastic with a good assortment of yesterday's catch. Two fun days of fishing and I thank everyone for the good time. Here's Tom with today's big trout... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Offshore....

An unbelievable day at the Homosassa Fishing Club with some huge catches back at the dock. Myself and fellow Captains Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt, William Toney, Jim Long and Jonathan Hamilton had the pleasure of having the Smith party and the group loaded up. Ed and Von were with me for the day and we had an excellent catch. Limits of Gag and Red grouper, several grunts and snapper, Spanish mackerel and a couple trout topped off our big haul. The other boats had some excellent catches as well and this team is definitely taking back home for fine fillets. I thank you all for the excellent day and here's my team with today's excellent catch... Capt. Dan
