Crystal River Grouper....

A really fun day with Emory on board and he had requested a grouper trip. I met him at the Plantation on Crystal River and we made our way to some trolling areas. The bite was steady throughout the day, but for some reason the short gags were the ones hitting our lines. Eventually the keepers came on board and Emory had a beautiful pair of gag grouper to take home for dinner. We added a couple grunts and sea bass to the catch and I thank you for the great time... Crystal River Mix

What another blessed day offshore and wow, was it ever a beautiful one. John and Mark joined me today and with the forecast looking perfect for going offshore; we did just that. I trolled some various areas and the team brought in their four keepers, and we had a couple get the best of us too. After our great grouper catch, I anchored on some scattered rocks and we had a ball bending the rod with grunts, more grouper and sea bass. Live shrimp on knocker rigs did the trick for them. To finish up this picture perfect day, we drifted the kelp grass patches and added a couple fine trout. I thank you both again for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Heavy Weights...

Some more beautiful weather for us today with the Smith party out of the Homosassa Fishing Club with my great friends Capt. Mark Zorn, William Toney and Mike Baize. My team today was fantastic and we caught some really nice grouper. I actually ran south today and fished some of my 10ft to 12ft numbers and did great. Orange Rapala CD 14 plugs were the flavor of the day and we put four nice gags on ice before our afternoon shore lunch. Barbara had big fish honors and here's her monster gag at almost 20lbs. Thank you all for the outstanding day.... Capt. Dan

Good to be back on the water with some beautiful weather after the Thanksgiving Holiday and the Smith party was ready to rock. I had Jock, Dave and Carter on board out of the Homosassa Fishing Club and the team jumped right in to grouper mode and trolled up some beautiful gags. We trolled some low profile rocks and in just over an hour, the guys had six fine gag grouper. Next up, we made our run back inshore and found a couple trout in the kelp beds on DOA glow jerk baits. The tide was finally coming in good around 2pm and to end the day, we hit one point to bring home a very nice catch of red fish to top off our Homosassa charter. I thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

Happy Thanksgiving....

Hello everyone, well since Sunday, it's been howling with winds maintaining in the 20mph range with small craft advisories being issued. I've unfortunately had to cancel the last couple of days, but the upcoming marine forecast from Thanksgiving on looks great. I want to wish you and all your families a Happy Thanksgiving and I look forward to seeing you all soon... Capt. Dan

Hot Reds & Gags...

Only a couple hour window for us today to get the trip in; but the fish were on the feed and it was AWESOME. Bob and Nancy joined me for the day and we left the Plantation on Crystal River at 8am to begin hunting red fish. The red fish action was absolutely fantastic and every point we fished produced several. Once again just free lining live shrimp in the mullet schools produced the reds. We could hear the storms in the distance and I knew the rain was approaching; so I made a hard run out to 12ft of water for some grouper. A combination of trolling and casting plugs brought the grouper on board and we headed to the hill just after 12:30pm. A great time with you both as always and enjoy all the fish dinners back in Pennsylvania... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Reds & Gags...

Just about a perfect day as one could ask for and Valerie and John had a great one. I met the couple at Pete's Pier Marina, "there was ramp maintenance at the Plantation" and we made our way out. The tide was looking good for red fishing, so we hit a couple outer keys; free lined some live shrimp and did well. Keeping it simple by targeting red fish in the mullet schools produced our best bites. The next plan was grouper land and it was ON. From trolling to casting plugs, we had some stellar action. A fun time with you both and I really look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

Grouper in the Rain...

A couple days off for routine maintenance and wear and tear repairs; but back at it today. I had originally cancelled today and it was not a pretty day out there for sure; but I put on the Simms rain gear and my buddy Pat was ready to give it a try. I picked up Pat at his house on the river and made a run to some of my favorite grouper rocks. The sky was dark and it soon began raining, but we hung in there and caught some fine grouper. Natural colored plugs were the flavor of the day for the gags. A fun "wet" day and I thank you for the great time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Hogs & Gags...

My final day ending a four great day fishing extravaganza with Phil and Matt. These last couple days have been quite memorable and the catches, have been fantastic. Today was another awesome trip out of Homosassa and my man Matt was on the hog fish. Matt had the hod rod and brought in six hog fish on hook and line, while Phil was the grouper man today. The weather was absolutely perfect for November and I can't thank you both enough for all the fun times. Here's the crew with a catch to be proud of... Capt. Dan

Appreciation Day....

What another great day on the water with "Uncle" Phil. Today was on me, as we just fished as friends as a thank you for the many trips we've done together. We went plug casting for grouper and did very well. We put three nice keepers on ice pretty quick and caught our fourth fish trolling. The sea's were a little rough, but definitely worth our effort. The afternoon consisted of jerk baiting some shallow hard bottom flats for trout with DOA glow jerk baits and did awesome. Almost all keeper sized trout and lucked into one nice red fish to end our day. A fun relaxing day buddy and I look forward to back to work tomorrow for our final day... Capt. Dan
