Crystal River Reds & Mix...

A bucket list fish day for Joe and Steve on board and these guys had a ball. It was a hot one on the big pond and summers definitely still here. We had a nice mixed bag today from red fish on the keys, grouper, snapper and grunts on the rocks, to cork rigging trout on the flats. It was fun to catch a couple different fish doing different techniques and the team will enjoy a fine sea food platter. A great time and I look forward to seeing you again in the future... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Inshore...

Good to be back at the Homosassa Fishing Club group in Homosassa. The club house may be down for renovations; but the members are still enjoying the great Homosassa Fishing and making accommodations at various rentals around the area. On today's trip the Dodson group was in town and the action was very good. The red fishing was great on the outer keys; while the trout bite was steady on the shallow kelp grass patches with DOA deadly combos. A really fun day with the entire group and I look forward to our future trips... Capt. Dan

Shallow Gags...

It's been a very tough grouper season so far, but things are looking better. It's not that we're all not catching fish, but the 24" size change is a real game changer. I had Dave, Stephen and Alex on board and we went ledge jumping all day and picked up grouper along the way. It was a live bait bite for us and palm sized pin fish did the trick. The guys turned a couple keepers, had a few get the best of us and landed several shorts. As we get in to the coming weeks, the action will improve and the fall season will be here before we know it. A great time team and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Good Redfishing....

The red fish action continues to be the best game in town and Chris and William were able to experience it. I picked up the guys at the Plantation on Crystal River and we hit the keys for some reds. The tide was a little better today and we had just a touch more water to work with. I kept it simple, and a free lined live shrimp was the bait of the day. The team caught close to a dozen, and we even tried our luck for a grouper real quick. We caught a few with two just shy of the 24" mark and we wrapped up the day. A good time as always and I'll see you again soon... Capt. Dan

Crystal River 1/2 day Reds...

Always a fun 1/2 day charter with Gene and Lynda out of the Plantation on Crystal River. I began the day again on the morning high tide with some red fish action and did well. There wasn't as much tide as yesterday, but enough to find a couple red fish. The couple did just fine using live shrimp and we made our way to a shallow ledge to add a couple other goodies to the mix. Some grunts, snapper and sheepshead we also added to the today's total and as always; I thank you for the fun day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Reds...

A great day to be back at the office! Finally, the rain let up and we're back on schedule. For today's trip, I had long time friends Jason, Wes and Kyle on board and we had an absolute fantastic morning on the red fish. We stopped on two different keys and were in double digit red fish. The guys had a blast on the reds, and our next stop we filled out our afternoon bending the rod on grunts, snapper and a fine flounder. A fun day and I thank you all for the good time... Capt. Dan

Rain, Rain, Rain....

Well, for the non Florida folks; this is what we've been dealing with the last couple of days. A little low pressure system is keeping the moisture around and unfortunately, keeping many of us landlocked. I want to thank the few charters I've had to cancel for your patience and I hope to see you in the future... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Reds...

Today was one of the Athens family yearly trips and we had a blast. The morning hours though, were a little tricky. I ran offshore to jig for trout, but the crazy weather chased us around a bit. The storms finally started moving away from us and I could make a game plan. Red fishing was going to be the plan and we did quite good. I kept it simple and jumped point to point and picked up a couple on each stop. They weren't really concentrated, but enough action to fill out the afternoon. We had a double digit day and I thank you all for the great time... Capt. Dan

Slow Gags, hot Mango's...

A fun day with the Roach team out of Crystal River today and even though the grouper bite was slow, we had some good action. I made the run south to the 28ft range and we poked around some of my favorite locations for the gags. We caught a couple gags that just fell short of the keeper mark and a fine red grouper surprised us to come on home. The snapper bite though was great, and a fine limit of mango's came on board and several grunts filled out the day. It was a hot one on the big pond and I thank you all for the great time... Capt. Always a fun day with the Settin the Hook team and we had a ball. Ann, Venny and Ashley were my team and they were ready to get'em. Today was my first day back at the office since my vacation and it was nice to be on the big pond. I was very surprised how dirty Crystal Bay is right now and it's zero visibility. Anyway, we pushed on out and had a fun time. We caught grouper, snapper, cobia, snook and some fine red fish. Live pin fish were the baits of the day and I truly thank you all for the great time. Here's Venny with her first red fish and was it ever a beauty... Capt. Dan
