Sheepshead on the Menue...

A sheepshead request for today's Crystal River charter and the Barlow team did outstanding. The guys and I made the run offshore and the action was steady. Grunts, sheepshead, grouper and porgies filled out our day using live shrimp on knocker rigs. We moved around little by little catching a couple on each spot and the day was secured with a fine catch. I thank you all for the fun time, good laughs and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

A fine day on the trout flats as we targeted them using a variety of techniques and we gave the sheepshead a break today. Lauren, Bob and Gary were the team and the guys did very well. Jerk baits, jigs and cork rigs all produced equally well and it was fun to do a little mix. The wind was up out of the SE this morning and the tide was extremely "LOW". Eventually though, the wind relaxed and the tide came in nicely and we had great day. Thank you gentlemen and I always look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Saturday Trout & Reds...

Kind of a hint of Spring for us out on the big pond and it sure was a pretty day. David and Brian joined me today on a group trip out of the Plantation on Crystal River with fellow Homosassa Guides Association Captain's William Toney, Mark Zorn and Rick Spratt. The whole team did a fine job with fine catches of trout and a few red fish. A couple blue fish and Spanish mackerel were also caught, which is a slight hint spring is on the way. Great job team and anglers... Capt. Dan

Trout & Sheep's...

A very pleasant day for us out of Crystal River and Steve and Chris had a fun one. The guys had a blast this morning both jigging and jerk baiting, some fine inshore trout. We kept our angler limit of 10 fish and we wrapped up our day dropping down on some sheepshead, to add to the mix. A beautiful day and I'm sure glad the wind backed off for us... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Windy Trout...

Hello everyone, well today was probably the windiest day I've ever fished on a charter. Chris, Scott and Matt were my guests and even though the marine forecast was calling for 15knts which is doable - it was gusting to 30knts today. Wow, was it howling out of the East; but we hung in there and found some fine trout for the day. We stayed shallow and glow DOA jerk baits around the bars was our key to success. We did OK considering the conditions, and I thank you all as always for the fun day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River, Solid Day....

A solid day's catch with the Coleman team today and these gentlemen did outstanding. Lee, Richard and Clell all began the day jigging up some fine trout, and Richard had big fish honors with one at 4lbs. Bourbon colored Lil' Johns were the flavor of the day and we then pushed on out to sheepshead land. The team and I anchored on a nice piece of hard bottom and the bite was on. Sheepshead and grouper kept us busy and the action was truly great. A wonderful and day and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Another picture perfect day offshore Crystal River and the sea's today were flat calm. John and Lea were my guests and we had a ball. The day started jigging up a fine catch of trout on MirrOlure Lil' Johns and next, we ventured offshore. While offshore the team had a nice mix of sheepshead, grunts, gags and a bonus hogfish. A fantastic trip and I hope to see you all again soon... Capt. Dan

The weather broke for us today and WOW - was it ever beautiful out there. After two days of hard wind, the gulf was calm and the sheepshead were ready to go. Lauren and Jim were my guests for the day and we stayed in the 25ft range for the sheep's. The guys had a nice five fish per person catch, plus we jigged up a couple real quality trout on the way back home. A really nice day on the big pond and I thank you all for the great time... Capt. Hello everyone, I just wanted to send out an update that this Sunday the Homosassa Guides Association will be hosting the annual fish fry. The event will take place at Macrae's on the Homosassa river and we will begin serving at noon. Meals are $8.00 a plate and there will be raffle items available as well. The Association will donate a portion of the proceeds to a local charity and I hope to see you all there... Capt. Dan

Always a fun day with Bob and Nancy on board and the husband and wife team had a blast. We covered the whole range we could that today's conditions would allow form inshore to offshore. The trip began in trout land, jigging up a couple trout as we ventured towards some sheepshead structures. We anchored up and caught a little mix of gags, grunts and sheepshead to keep us busy. As the tide rolled in, I made a ride to the South as we eased along the points; and found a couple red fish to wrap up the day. I thank you both so much and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan
