Tough Poons...
We found some rolling tarpon today, but they didn't cooperate to nicely for us. Joe was on board with the for the day and we gave it our all. From live baits to artificial they snubbed their nose at us; except one big fish did explode on a free lined live mullet. The wind was up as well, which made the conditions challenging. To save the day though, we hit the creeks and had some snook action to put a bend in the rod. Always a great time with you bud and I'll see you soon... Capt. Dan
Homosassa Rain & Reds....
Well, the weather cut us short today, but we were able to at least get a couple hours of good red fishing in. I was joined by my good friend Capt. William Toney and we fished the Marique party to some pretty good red fishing. A slight break in the rain allowed us to hit a couple outer keys for the reds and they sure were there. We had close to a double digit couple hours of fishing and live shrimp on a jig head was the bait of choice. I thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan
Bob's Tarpon...
The weather was against us today, but we gave it a try and I'm sure glad we did. I had my good friend and long time client Bob from Pennsylvania on board and he reached a life long goal today. Bob did a fine job landing and fighting his first tarpon. We only had a couple hours to fish as the conditions were deteriorating, but a properly presented DOA bait buster did the trick. For the afternoon, we tackled a couple snook and Bob caught his first one as well. A great time and congratulations... Capt. Dan
Crystal River Offshore...
I took a break from the tarpon skiff today and I had the pleasure of having Tim on board and we made our way offshore. Tim's tried several times to go out with me and the weather has always been not in our favor. Today though was fair and we made it happen. I fished the 28ft of water range and we caught a limit of gags, some mangrove snapper and a fine bonus hog fish. Everything was caught bottom fishing and we beat the offshore storm in, just in time. A fine day and I thank you... Capt. Dan
To the Boat..
A great morning on the tarpon flats with Jim and Dean and the guys each brought one to the boat. We left the fly rods at home and on this trip, we used DOA bait busters. We cast a head of the rolling fish and they cooperated nicely. The action soon died off, but we had a great day and I thank you both... Capt. Dan
