Crystal River Mix...

A much better bite today and Dan, Lauren and Joe had a good one. The started out on the red fish and they were a little bit more cooperative for us as we caught a fine pair of keepers, before we left them and jerk baited some trout. I had the last little bit of the incoming tide to work with and the team caught some fine trout on the shallow yellow bottom, before we ran offshore. Once offshore I moved around a bit and hit the right spot. Dan dropped down a shrimp and brought up the cobia. The free lined pin fish did their job and it was a cobia frenzy. Four beautiful cobia came on ice and we called it a day. I thank you guys as always and I'll see you in a couple months... Capt. Dan

What an awesome day and a wonderful time with the Dauches party. I fish Dan regularly I wanted to show him and his family something different, so we targeted cobia. I had to jump around a bit, but once I found them it was fast action. We had a double on and the whole school could be seen around the boat. It sure was great to sight fish them and live pin fish did the trick. The gang put four nice keepers on Ice and set a new record for keeper cobia in one day, for my boat. I thank you guys and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Cobia on the Menue...

A great day offshore with the Novinger family and we tackled some cobia. I haven't been offshore to the south in quite a while and it felt good to do so. We free lined live pin fish over some hard bottom areas and did well. The big excitement was when the largest jewfish I've encountered to date, tried to eat one of our keeper cobia - It was quite a sight! A couple trout and a nice red fish were also added to the day and once again, I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Tripletail and Cobia...

A fantastic day with Joe and Joanne for their monthly Crystal River Charter and we hit it good. Today's order was triple tail and cobia, and I was fortunate to deliver. We found some fine triple tail while running around and a free lined live shrimp did the trick for them. The couple put six nice triple tail on ice, plus sight fished a hefty cobia for a grande finale. A wonderful time and I thank you both... Capt. Dan

A great time with Jim, Ron and Lauren out of Crystal River today and we had a nice mix for the day. Our trip began jigging a bit offshore and we had the variety show going on. Trout, cobia, grouper, lady fish, etc... kept our rods bent. The trout bite wasn't to hot, but we caught a few. The tide started rolling in and it got right for red fishing. The reds were on and in a couple stops the guys brought in a beautiful limit of red fish. We did end the day on one more drift and added a couple more trout to the catch and I thank you all for the great day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Variety...

A nice variety today with Al and David and the weather was beautiful. The trout game started our day and with DOA jerk baits in hand, we had a nice catch to get the day going. The next plan was to add a grouper to the mix, but they were finicky. The team worked hard and eventually caught a nice keeper, plus a fine late season cobia. A pair of red fish ended our trip and I thank you both for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Settin The Hook...

One of those special days with Ashley, Ann and Jacki on board and we had a blast. Ann owns a fine clothing apparel company called "Settin The Hook" and I always enjoy taking her team of lady anglers out for the day. For today's trip, I took the team offshore Crystal River and we caught some gag and red grouper, plus a couple cobia. We had a couple keeper sized fish and released a pile of, (would have been keepers last year). So, with some good grouper action under our belts, we made our way back in the keys and had some of the best red fishing you could ever hope for. We had doubles on for over 30 minutes and we caught close to 25 red fish. Most of the red fish were lower slot, but Ashley had big fish honors with a fine 26" beauty. A wonderful day and I always look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Variety...

A fantastic day with Jim on board and today, we had the variety show going on. The gulf is hot at 88 degrees but the fishing is still quite good. The day began as we brought a fine tarpon boat side, for the morning hours. Tarpon are always welcomed, but the next surprise, a cobia popped up and we caught it on the fly rod. To keep the variety going, I made a stop on a grouper ledge and Jim tackled a couple gags up to just under the keeper size. As we ended this great day, a nice slot red fish came on board and two hefty snook threw the jerk baits back at us to finish up our trip. An awesome day and thank you for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

Always a fun time with Bob and when he's on board, it's a great time. For today's trip, we did a little bit of everything. We began the day catching a snook back in the creeks in salt river, and then made our way offshore for some grouper. Well, the grouper bite was good; but they were all on the short side for us today. The cobia were around too, but all around the 30" mark, but fun all the same. To end the day, I checked a hole and found a couple tarpon and we battled a fine fish for about 30 minutes before she broke off. A great really good mix for the day and I thank you for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Variety...

We covered the whole spectrum from inshore to offshore with Jason and Mike on board for the day. I picked up the father and some team at Macrae's and we began back in the creeks hooking in to some nice snook, trout and red fish. I put the trolling motor down and we eased along targeting the points with DOA jerk baits. The guys caught a fine inshore slam, plus some for the morning hours. The tide dropped out, and we trekked offshore for more fun and more species. Cobia, grouper and grunts bent the rod for the afternoon and it was an fantastic day. Thank you both so much.... Capt. Dan
