Mother's Day Cobia...

One of those special day's and happy Mothers Day to all the mom's out there. I was fortunate to spend the day with mine and my wife, and we had a ball. We lucked into a pair of real hefty cobia with one being 41lbs and the other 38lbs. We sight fished them with DOA bait busters and they couldn't resist them. After the run offshore, I made our way in the north county creeks and we caught a couple beautiful snook to wrap up the day. A truly fantastic mothers day and you can always see the additional pictures on my Crystal River Fishing Facebook page... Capt. Dan

Offshore Fun...

It was one of those special days offshore and there was "NOT" a ripple on the gulf. I had the pleasure of having Ann, Ashley, and Kim on board and these ladies had a ball. I took them to some offshore locations and let them pull on some big gags. The grouper bite was good as it could be and we caught some real nice one's reaching 16lbs. I mixed it up a bit as well, and also found a couple cobia and triple tail for the day. Ann represents "Settin the Hook" clothing line and please check them out on facebook. It's great and I thank you all for the awesome time... Capt. Dan

Incredible Inshore...

Definitely the best snook action I've ever had on a charter today with Ed and Lee on board and it was fantastic. We began the day back in the creeks and right away; we lucked into a couple fine snook on DOA glow jerk baits. It was great to hook up right out of the gate, but the tide was dumping out fast; and I wanted to get on the trout for the last of the out going tide. I mad a bit of a run North, and the guys jigged up a fine limit of ten trout while adding a fine keeper cobia to the mix. The afternoon finished up with a couple more snook and it truly was a phenomenal day. Thank you both for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Heavy Weight...

One more day with a fine mixed catch with Joe and Joann on board and on today's trip, we made our way offshore a bit. The cobia run is in full swing, so I ran to some of my favorite haunts and we did very well. We hooked four cobia, landed 2 and also over a dozen keeper sized gag grouper. Live pin fish was the bait of the day. For the afternoon hours, we added some trout and triple tail to the total and I thank you both for a great day. Here's the couple with a fine cobia, well over the 30lb mark... Capt. Dan

A good mix today with Casey from Sodium Fishing Gear on board and we had a ball. We started the day running down some triple tail and caught a few, but all were on the short side. I was eager to try a couple new trout locations I marked recently and we gave them a try. Well, it was a good call and the action was superb. Casey made six casts in a row and caught six keepers. He and I finished off out limit in no time and even picked up a fine cobia as well. A great day and I always look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Definitely not the nicest day out there for us today, but we hung in there and made it happen. I had the Workman party on board and even though it was rough; the team caught some fine surprise cobia and grouper. The winds were howling for us today out of the NW and there were white caps on the big pond; so it made for some rough conditions. I had to fish some of my shallow numbers and we had some good action. The cobia hit the live bats, while we were targeting grouper and they are always a welcomed surprise for sure. Some grouper got the best of us as well, but we were able to turn a beautiful gag before the rough seas chased us in. A tough day with rough conditions, but we had a good time and I thank you all for the great day. Here's Eric with his first Crystal River Cobia... Capt. Dan

Late Bite Gags...

The cobia were sure happy today, but it sure took a while for the grouper to turn on. Today's Crystal River charter I had Mike and Kathy on board for some grouper digging. The team and I fished some of the shallow ledges towards the North today and it was "DEAD". Only one short gag, but a real hefty cobia came aboard to get the day going. After nine different stops, we made a long run south and got on the grouper. We finished off our hard earned limit of gags and had some fine quality fish to show for it. I thank you both and look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

Tarpon, Gags & Cobia...

An amazing last three days with my cousin Rich on board. Rich was here for has annual tarpon June trip and we did outstanding. We jumped 17 tarpon over the last couple of days and boated four. Most of the fish were deep, so we used DOA bait busters for the majority of our days. Tides played a big role on when the tarpon turned on, but when they did; it was great. Rich also caught his first cobia and also caught and released a couple gag grouper. A very memorable trip and I always look forward to next year... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Offshore...

The perfect day to go offshore with Meredith and Blake for the day and the rods stayed bent. I took the couple to the 25ft range and dropped down live shrimp on knocker rigs. The bite was on and literally every drop produced a fish. We had a nice variety of species and a real beauty of a mangrove snapper too. The water was clear and seeing the fish swim around under the boat is always a treat. What A fun day and I look forward to doing it again soon... Capt. Dan

Day two at the Homosassa Fishing Club fishing the West party and my team and I made the run offshore today. I had Tom, Tommy and Herbert on board for the ride West until we hit the 17ft range. We anchored and had some excellent action on Cobia, grunts and grouper. Tom landed a nice keeper cobia, Tommy had an under slot and Herbert was on grunt patrol. Lots of great fun and we ran back to the grass patches in 7ft of water and picked up 8 keeper trout to end the day. I thank you all for the great day and congratulations Tom on your first keeper cobia... Capt. Dan
