Heavy Weight Sheeps...

Another fantastic day on the sheepshead grounds with Mike, Tim and Mike and these gentlemen did great. We eased along spot to spot and picked up a couple sheepshead on each location we fished. The steady action though, was the gag grouper. My goodness, we must have caught over hundred grouper today. Most were small ones, but extremely aggressive. Live shrimp on knocker rigs were the ticket and we also added a couple trout to the catch to end the day. Tim had big fish honors with one almost 10lbs and I thank you all for the fun day... Capt. Out of Retirement....

Yes, it sure felt good to be back on the water and out of retirement." Kidding of course, but I generally can only make it about three days off the water before I get the itch." Today though, the winds calmed and I knew the sheepshead action would be in full swing. I had Clell and Lee on board and with gulf water temperatures below 60 degrees, the sheepshead are a best bet. We had an out standing day with a great mix of trout, numerous and numerous grouper and several sheepshead to fill out the day. A fun time with you both as always and I look forward to next time... Good As It Gets...

An incredible day on the big pond with Steve and Paul and the guys had a day to remember. Today we began targeting trout and we did very well on MirrOlure Lil' Johns, before we ran to the rock piles in search of a mixed bag. After a great catch of trout, we dropped down some live shrimp and the team had some unbelievable action. Grouper, sea bass, pompano and sheepshead kept us busy for the afternoon and the action was excellent. I thank you both for a very memorable day and I always look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Grouper Season Wrap up...

Wow! What an unbelievable successful 2015 grouper season. It's been my tradition the last couple of years to fish the last day with my wife Becky and we did so again today. The weather was looking " iffy" at best, but we just had to try. I made a run to the some real shallow holes, rocks and ledges in 5ft to 7ft of water and we cast plugs over them and caught some beautiful grouper. We had four nice fish in just a couple hours and we called it a day. I also wanted to thank all of you that fished with me and that follow me on my daily posts for a great season as well. Shallow water grouper fishing is my passion and the thrill to me is seeing my clients enjoy a great " tug of war" battle that very few fish of their size can produce; and their pretty tasty too. I'm always looking for new structures and I believe to date I have over 1,600 different locations awaiting to be fished. Once again I thank you all and now it's time for some winter trout, sheepshead, red fish and other goodies - for the upcoming months... Capt. Dan

Shallow Gags...

A great day on the shallow grouper grounds with my man Pat on board again for his last grouper day of the year. Today was a fun day as we jumped rock to rock picking up some nice grouper along and along. Rapala F-18 plugs were the flavor of the day and with the water as clear as it is; we were just about sight fishing the grouper. Today was the last day for the federal waters grouper season and tomorrow will be the last for state waters. I hope the weather holds for one more day and I thank you Pat for the fun time... Capt. Homosassa Casting Plugs...

Today I was at the Homosassa Fishing Club for a 1/2 day of fishing and afternoon shore-lunch with the Craft party and I took my team to catch some grouper. I had Lindsey and Frank for the day and we hop scotched from rock to rock picking on some nice gag grouper. Lindsey had never caught shallow water grouper before; so he took the rod for the majority of the day and cast up several grouper. We ended up by noon with some fine keepers and quite a few fun sized one before my self and the other guides cooked up a fine shore-lunch. Always a fun time with the Craft party and here's Lindsey with his second cast and a nice Homosassa gag grouper... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Grouper....

A really fun day with Emory on board and he had requested a grouper trip. I met him at the Plantation on Crystal River and we made our way to some trolling areas. The bite was steady throughout the day, but for some reason the short gags were the ones hitting our lines. Eventually the keepers came on board and Emory had a beautiful pair of gag grouper to take home for dinner. We added a couple grunts and sea bass to the catch and I thank you for the great time... Crystal River Mix

What another blessed day offshore and wow, was it ever a beautiful one. John and Mark joined me today and with the forecast looking perfect for going offshore; we did just that. I trolled some various areas and the team brought in their four keepers, and we had a couple get the best of us too. After our great grouper catch, I anchored on some scattered rocks and we had a ball bending the rod with grunts, more grouper and sea bass. Live shrimp on knocker rigs did the trick for them. To finish up this picture perfect day, we drifted the kelp grass patches and added a couple fine trout. I thank you both again for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Heavy Weights...

Some more beautiful weather for us today with the Smith party out of the Homosassa Fishing Club with my great friends Capt. Mark Zorn, William Toney and Mike Baize. My team today was fantastic and we caught some really nice grouper. I actually ran south today and fished some of my 10ft to 12ft numbers and did great. Orange Rapala CD 14 plugs were the flavor of the day and we put four nice gags on ice before our afternoon shore lunch. Barbara had big fish honors and here's her monster gag at almost 20lbs. Thank you all for the outstanding day.... Capt. Dan

Good to be back on the water with some beautiful weather after the Thanksgiving Holiday and the Smith party was ready to rock. I had Jock, Dave and Carter on board out of the Homosassa Fishing Club and the team jumped right in to grouper mode and trolled up some beautiful gags. We trolled some low profile rocks and in just over an hour, the guys had six fine gag grouper. Next up, we made our run back inshore and found a couple trout in the kelp beds on DOA glow jerk baits. The tide was finally coming in good around 2pm and to end the day, we hit one point to bring home a very nice catch of red fish to top off our Homosassa charter. I thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan
