Crystal River to Homosassa...
We made the big swing today from the North side of Crystal River to flats off Homosassa. Jack and John were on board today for a full day charter and the guys had some busy action. The lady fish have invaded the area in full force and it was making it difficult to get to the trout. The trout we did catch, were quality fish and all came on glow DOA cal shad tail jigs and bourbon colored MirrOlure Lil' Johns. From the 8ft spotty bottom areas to the shallow flats off the keys, we caught trout in all locations. The guys did a fine job and secured plenty of fillets for dinner. I thank you both for the fun time and look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

Pre Front Crystal River Trout...
We just beat the much needed rain in today with the approaching front. Bill and Karen were on board with me today out of Pete's Pier in Crystal River and trout once again was going to be our theme. We ran up to the North for the day and targeted everything from oyster bars, rocks and kelp beds. Loaded with MirrOLure Lil' Johns, DOA cal shad tails and shrimp, we had an excellent morning. Numerous short trout made for some steady action and we added a keeper to the mix here and there, to add to our total. A nice surprise snook graced us, as well as an under slot red fish to top off the trip. The winds picked up considerably from the South and we called it a day with thunder in the distance. I thank you both as always for the great times and congratulations on your catch... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Trout out of the Plantation...
A very fun 1/2 day charter out of the Plantation on Crystal River with Captains Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt, Shawn Walker and Rick Lefiles. I had the pleasure of having Chason and Richard on board and these two anglers caught some beautiful trout. We fished a couple different areas from kelp beds to rock piles and all locations had fish on them. The hot bait for us today was the new Penny MirrOlure Lil' John's rigged on a 1/8th oz DOA cal jig head. The action was great and all the boats had some great catches. I thank you guys for the fun time and here's my crew with their limit of trout... Capt. Dan

A 40" Club Crystal River Snook!!!
What a awesome surprise to start off today's Crystal River charter. Dan, Mallory and Ross were on board for the day and Ross got us going with a monster 40" snook. We left from Pete's Pier Marina this morning and tried our luck for trout with the little bit of out going tide we had to work with. The trout bite was slow, but the drag screaming snook made up for it. As a plan B, we ran back offshore to the rocks and loaded up on the sea bass, mackerel and released a couple grouper. The tide was turning to come in around noon, so we made our run back inshore and picked up a couple nice quality trout to end our day. I thank you all for the fun time and congratulations on a outstanding catch. Here's Ross with one heck of a snook to be proud of... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Variety Inside and Out...
We covered the whole spectrum today, from the inshore flats, to the near shore rock piles. John and Chuck were on board for the day and my only instructions were too keep the rods bent. Stating the day inshore on the trout was a little slow on keepers, but we found a few and lots of shorts to get the day going. I never really like the outgoing tide during the full moon, so I'll blame the slow morning keeper trout bite on that. The seas were favorable to make a run offshore, so we left the trout and loaded up on the mixed species. Keeper sized grouper, sea bass, grunts, mackerel, trout and a pompano made for a very exciting afternoon. The action was great and these guys had a fantastic catch. I thank you both for the fun day and look forward to seeing you soon... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Awesome Trout...
There's never really a bad day of fishing, but when you hit the bite as good as it was today; it's truly a phenomenal day. I had the pleasure of having the Keeler family on board and we bundled up and hit the flats. When we reached the mouth of the river, we were welcomed to another extreme low tide and it was LOW... To play it safe, we took our time reaching the the shallow kelp beds and made some drifts. It was a little slow for a while with a fish here and there with the forever outgoing tide, but when it turned; it was fish on. We made two drifts over the spotty bottom with the kelp grass and it was some fantastic action. It was cold with the overcast skies and NE wind, but it was definitely worth it. I thank you all for such a great day and congratulations on a outstanding catch... Capt. Dan

Crystal River 1/2 Day Macks...
A pleasant day on the gulf with Gene and Lynda on board and we chummed up a few Spanish Mackerel. We left from Pete's Pier Marina this morning just before 8am and made a couple quick stops in hopes of finding a red fish or two. There was a decent high tide, but all I could find was two under slot reds to start the day. Our next plan, we anchored up and began chumming in a mixed variety of species. Spanish mackerel, blue runners, trout, jack crevalle, sea bass and sharks were our visitors in the chum slick and made for some fun action to end our day. We kept a few macks for dinner and I always enjoy the time on the water with you both... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Seafood Sampler...
We did it all today out of Crystal River and my two wonderful lady clients, Debbie and Shelley had a great time. We left from the Plantation Resort this morning and started the day on the outgoing tide gathering our limit of scallops on just two locations. The weekend crowds were out there, but we got away from the pack and had them all to our selves. Just before 11am we had our 6 gallon limit and made our run offshore to the 12ft range and targeted the mixed variety on the rock piles. Grouper, grunts, mangrover snapper, flounder, etc... kept us busy and a simple live shrimp on a 1/8oz Hank Brown jig head was the bait of choice. I thank you both for the fun time and here's my lady anglers with a cooler full of goodies... Capt. Dan

Trout Going Deep...
I had the pleasure of having the Worthington family on board out of Crystal River today and the fishing was great. Our plan was to target trout, so we took our time and headed out to the14ft depth range. Having beautiful calm and "hot" conditions, we slowly worked our jigs grass patch to grass patch and had a great catch of trout to show for it. We used an assortment of DOA, MirrOlure and Gulp artificials, and no one bait really out performed the other. I thank you all for the great time and congratulations on the fine catch... Capt. Dan

Team Homosassa....
Myself and fellow Homosassa Guides Association Captains Mark Zorn, Charlie Harris and Jody Johnson had the pleasure of fishing the Spearman party today out of the Homosassa Fishing Club. This is always a fun group and I had Matt, Brad and Bran on board for the day. My group had a nice catch of trout and a couple sea bass fishing offshore and inshore, while using a combination of DOA deadly combos and MirrOlure Lil' Johns. There was a separate big red fish pot for the day and Capt. Harris was the only one today to score a couple beautiful Homosassa Reds for his clients. I thank you all for the great time and here's the entire group with their fantastic catch... Capt. Dan
