The Fish!!! You will catch Grouper, Sea Trout, Redfish, Snook, Cobia, Mackerel, Flounder, Ladyfish, Bonita, Kingfish, Snapper, Sharks, Seabass, And Jack Crevel.  There is a huge variety of easily catchable fish off the coast of Crystal River and Homosassa.

Homosassa Fishing Club Aug 22nd &23rd 2010

I had the pleasure of fishing the Williams' party from Atlanta the last two days, with fellow Homosassa Guide Association Captains Jim Long and William Toney. We fished an afternoon 1/2 day trip yesterday and targeted trout just west of St. Martins Keys. We all averaged around 5 keeper trout and a few shorts to fill out the afternoon. Today we left the dock at 8:30 am and ran out the Little Homosassa river to find choppy conditions and a stiff south breeze. I ran to the north and picked up 6 keeper trout, a mackerel and many shorts to have a busy fish catching morning. The new DOA stark naked color shrimp on the larger egg corks were the bait of choice. High tide today was just after noon and we did red fish for a while, but no keepers just two under slot reds. The rain was coming so we ended the day a little short and I apologize for no pictures. (We were trying to beat the thunder storms). Thanks everyone for a great couple of days and I hope the weather is more favorable for your next visit at the "club"... Capt. Dan

Limit of Grouper, Trout, Macks and a Goliath Aug 18th 2010

Wow, what a day! I had my good clients Dave and Bob on board today to target some Crystal River grouper. We left Pete's Pier at 8am sharp and the next stop was to pick up the pinfish trap. Well, there weren't very many pinfish for some reason or another, so we spent the next hour catching some quality grouper baits. Hand sized pinfish, grunts and sand perch filled the live well and I assured the guys these were grouper candy. It was quite rough in the morning, so we trout fished until the seas laid some, and then we made our run out to 15ft. We arrived, anchored up and fish on. The first three baits go hammered and three keeper gags came aboard. The next bite was the big one. Bob hooked up to a Goliath grouper and he had his hands full. He played the fish great and brought it boat side for a couple of pictures. It was in the hundred pound range and released to fight another day. The next cast produced our grouper limit, and we hit one more area inshore and caught some more trout and mackerel. Thanks guys for the memorable day and always look forward to our next charter... Capt. Dan

Hot Summer Trout Aug 16th 2010

I had one of my good friends and clients on board today out of Crystal River. Ron and his grandsons joined me for a full day of loading up on some trout. Ron is UF alumni and had his hands in the making of the original thirst quenching formula, of what is now Gatorade. He asked to put his family on plenty of fish and I delivered. We ran offshore to the deep spotty bottom and had a smorgasbord of species. The keeper trout we had today were all quality fish and no color DOA shrimp out fished another "they all were on fire today". We finished the day with 14 keeper trout and everyone was ready for tonight's fish fry. Thanks everyone for the busy and fun day, and look forward to our next charter... Capt. Dan

Crystal River 101 Aug 15th 2010

I met Brian and Tom at Pete's Pier this morning, to show them how to target trout here in Citrus County. They have recently mover here from down south and I wanted to help them the best I could to find some fish. We covered a lot of techniques from running inshore through the creeks, to the deep grass patches south of Homosassa. DOA deadly combos and a DOA shrimp on a 1/8oz jig head are all thats needed to put trout in the boat. We picked up a couple keepers along the way and plenty of shorts to show the guys how it's done. I really enjoyed the day hearing all the offshore stories they have from the Miami area and talking lobster "which is still fresh in my mind from my recent vacation". Thanks guys and when it starts cooling down we will troll up some grouper. Here are a couple trout from todays trip...Capt. Dan

8 Gallons and 10 Trout Aug 14th 2010

Captains Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt and myself had a full day Crystal River charter; with a mix of scalloping and fishing. We picked up the Dr. Crymes charter at the Best Western and started the day with the underwater Easter egg hunt. The scalloping is truly fantastic and all 3 boats did a superb job. For some of the group today, this was there first time scalloping and are ready to go again. After cleaning our scallop limits, we ran offshore a couple miles and caught some beautiful trout. DOA deadly combos in the holographic watermelon shrimp color on a chartreuse jig head did the trick. We had 10 keepers to finish up the afternoon and the other boats did about the same. We finished up the day cleaning the fish at Pete's Pier and fed the tarpon which is always a highlight. Thanks to everyone for a special day and look forward to seeing you all again... Capt. Dan
