The trout bite is on! I fished the Homosassa fishing club with fellow Captains Mark Zorn, Charlie Harris and Rick Spratt for an outstanding day. I had the pleasure of having long time club members Duke and Gail on board and they brought in the fish. We had our limit by noon and ended the day by serving a great shore lunch. The DOA deadly combos in the holographic watermelon fished in 5ft of water was the hot bait of the day. All the boats had a great day and the end of the day totals added up to 42 keeper trout, several macks and a couple of sea bass. I had the boat serviced yesterday and wanted to give it a quick shake down, since I have been off the water for a couple of days. I went solo today and wanted to check one of my snook spots on the Crystal River. I put on a baby bass DOA jerkbait and the 3rd cast this fine snook was in the boat and safely released to fight another day. The jacks were in the area as well, and I caught a few before I came in to prepare for my upcoming charters. I'm in Homosassa tomorrow and I'll see you on the water soon... Capt. Dan

I had Steve, Jim and Tom on board out of Crystal River for an awesome inshore charter. It just doesn't get any better than today. Even though the winds were up once again, the trout were ready for some DOA's. The deadly combos did there job today and the DOA glow shrimp and holographic watermelon were the hot baits of the day. We found good numbers of trout in the shallows and offshore in 8ft of water. We also caught a few Spanish mackerel throughout the day to add to the cooler. I'm going to be off the water for a couple days for boat service and playing catch up, but I'll see you all again soon. It was a little windy this morning, but it turned out to be a great Crystal River charter. I met Karen, Ted and Beth at Pete's Pier in search of some shallow water trout action. The trout were schooled up on the oyster bars today and the DOA deadly combos with the glow cal shad tail were once again the bait of choice. We had great action throughout the day and the 12 keepers we had ranged from 16" to 21". The occasional black sea bass and bluefish mixed up the day.  Capt. Kyle Messier who fished the other half of the family with me today, did well on redfish and Spanish mackerel. It was a great family outing and I want to thank you all for the great trip.
