Homosassa Elementary Goes Fishing. Jan.12th 2010 Featured
Written by Captain Dan
Today was a special day, myself and 12 other members of the Homosassa Guide Association had the opportunity to take over 50 5th grade students from Homosassa Elementary on a couple hour fishing trip. This trip has been planned for quite a while, but due to the bad weather we have been having we weren't able to make it out. Well, today was the day and it was a good one. All the kids caught numerous trout, lady fish, mangrove snapper and yours truly boated the only redfish. The students had to take notes of the wildlife they saw, record the air temperature and water temperature. However, the most fun was catching, measuring and weighing the fish. Coastal Angler Magazine and the Citrus County Chronicle were on board to take some great photos and have fun as well. I want to thank everyone for the great time and my crew, you all were great. Here is Ms. Val and her students with an 18" trout she caught on the Homosassa River. Great job and we will see you next year... Capt. Dan
