Crystal River, Deep Water Trout...

Written by
I made the run on today's Crystal River Charter to some of the deepest trout areas I target and they sure are there. I had Lee, Clell and Aaron on board out of Pete's Pier for the day and we headed West. Hot water temperatures in the uppers 80's mean a slow presentation and really, your're dragging your baits. We loaded up with MirrOlure lil' Johns and worked various grass patches from 10ft to 17ft of water. I can't begin to tell you how many short trout we caught, but I know it was well over a hundred and more sharks than I care to mention as well. We did manage several nice keepers before the gulf slicked off and we had to cool down. I made a long run to try and find a tarpon to end the day and we found them immediately. They were happily rolling and we had one on for about 20 seconds before the hook pulled. The storms were coming, so we called it a day just before 3pm. I thank you guys as always and look forward to our next charter... Capt. Dan
