Late Bite Trout....

It took till the 4th quarter for us today, but we got them. I had Brad, Kyle and Gregg on board for the day and we sure worked hard for the trout. I had plans on going to the sheepshead grounds, however the gusty West wind made us go to plan B. The team and I spent the day trout fishing and I covered a BUNCH of ground until we found them. Finally. the tide came in and we drifted the shallow hard bottom off the keys with DOA glow jerk baits and had a great catch. I thank you all for the great day and enjoy all the trout fillets.... Offshore Sheeps...

Well, I decided to give the offshore sheepshead bite a try once again since the cold front came though. The trout have pretty much locked up since the big temperature change, but it will improve in the coming days. So for today's trip, Burke, Jeremy and I headed offshore. I haven't been to the sheepshead grounds in a couple weeks due to the warm temperatures, but since the gulf dropped back to the low 60's, I knew it should turn the sheepshead back on. Well, it was a good call and the bite was excellent and big fish too. Numerous sheepshead, gag grouper and we picked up a pair of trout on the way home inshore. A fantastic day and I thank you both for the awesome time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Gags...

Always a great time with Mishel and Earl on board and we caught and released some fine gags. It was a slow start today due to the cold front coming through, but we ended strong. I tried to luck into a snook, but all the locations I tried came up empty. So, around noon we made a run south and trolled and casted up a couple gags to put a bend in the rod. It was to late in the day to go out the 20ft range when the winds calmed; but we found them shallow... "7ft of water." Always a great time with you both and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Tough & Windy....

What a difference a day can make. We had a cold front come through yesterday after the rain and it sure locked up the trout. It was day two for us at the Homosassa Fishing Club fishing the Watson party and if you can believe; not one keeper trout was brought to the dock. No water, a 10 degree temperature drop and a 20 mph North wind made it TOUGH. My crew of BJ and Vincent did something different and we put on some gold spoons and did the best we could in a couple creeks we could get in to. Well, the plan worked and we caught a beautiful slot snook and red fish, before our afternoon shore lunch. Definitely a challenging day, but we hung in there and made it happen. Thank you all for the great day and I look forward to seeing you next time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Trout & Rain...

An awesome trout bite for us today before the rain front came though and it was on! I was at the Homosassa Fishing Club with my great friends Capt.'s Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt, William Toney, Jonathan Hamilton, Jim Long and Jim Farrior. We all had the pleasure of fishing the Watson party and even though the weather cut us short, the action was terrific. My team did outstanding putting eighteen beautiful trout in the box on DOA deadly combo cork rigs. All the boats caught plenty of fish and it was a fantastic day. I thank everyone for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Trout...

The bite was on before the front for us today and the trout were happy. I had my great regular clients, Clell and Lee on board and we worked the bars in Crystal Bay and caught some nice trout. We made a couple stops in the morning for a red fish and the guys caught six pretty quick, before the tide dropped out; but all the reds were on the short side. So, for the afternoon, we tackled the trout and also picked up some mackerel as well. An awesome day with lots of action and a great catch to show. I thank you both for the great day and always look forward to our next charter... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

A good mix in species today in Crystal River and we caught the first cobia of the season. I had Henry, Rich and John on board for the day and we began the day with a red fish on the line. The tide was running out hard so we couldn't stay to long, but did catch a nice keeper, a short and had a bruiser cut us off. For the rest of the day we targeted trout, mackerel and caught a bonus 31" cobia. The cobia wasn't quite a keeper, but it sure was good to see one. A really fun day and I thank you all for the great time.... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Inshore...

A good mix today in Homosassa with Ray and his wife on board and we had a great day. I had a little bit of tide to work with for the morning hours to luck in to some red fish. We did well on the red fish and caught seven on MirrOlure MIrrOdines, but all were on the short side. However though, when the tide turned, the trout bite picked up and the action was pretty good on the rock bars off "Chazz". The team caught some fine trout and all were caught on DOA glow jerk baits. A really fun day and I thank you both for the great day... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Trout...

Not the banner day like yesterdays trip, but today's team hung in there and we caught some fine trout. It was day two for the O'Kelly party and we fished the morning hours; prepared a shore lunch and then finished up the afternoon with some more fishing. I will say this, the morning bite was nonexistent and we just about couldn't get anything going. However, after our noon shore lunch; the trout bite picked up with the tide and all the boats caught some fine Homosassa trout. A fun couple of days and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa at its Best...

What a day at the Homosassa Fishing Club fishing the O'Kelly party and the day couldn't have been better. Myself and my good fellow Captains Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt and William Toney had quite the day on the trout, red fish and some mackerel. My crew did outstanding jerk baiting some skinny water trout around "Chazz," once the tide came in. We fished around the rock bars and in three short drifts, we had 15 beautiful trout in the box. The entire group did outstanding and I thank everyone for the wonderful day... Capt. Dan
