Catch & Release Gags...

After almost four days of being blown off the water from another aggressive cold front, I was able to get back to work today. Mishel and Earl were on board for the day and the couple were ready for some catch and release grouper action. I haven't been offshore in quite sometime and we made our run to 28ft of water. The gulf water temperature was right at 60 degrees, which is on the low end for when grouper bite; but they were on the feed today. We had excellent action both trolling and bottom fishing. The bottom fishing bite was spectacular and we caught well over thirty grouper, using mostly live shrimp. We took some great pictures and watched them all swim away unharmed. A beautiful day and I thank you both for the outstanding trip... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

A very beautiful day on the big pond before the approaching front tomorrow and Dan and Daryl had a ball. I just about did a mirror image to yesterdays charter and my plan worked out great. We made our sheepshead run in the morning, before the tide started running in hard. The guys boated some fine sheepshead for the morning hours and then we ran back in to the keys, to find some shallow water trout. The tide was getting right just before noon and we drifted the flats with DOA glow jerk baits and the trout cooperated nicely. To end the day, a couple red fish came on board with one making it in the slot and another good day out of Crystal River is in the books. Thank you both for the great day and congratulations on a fine catch... Capt. Dan

The gulf has finally warmed up enough to turn the trout on in the skinny water and today was awesome. I had the pleasure of fishing Ron, Gary and Milford and we made our sheepshead run first this morning. The seas were perfect and once we reached our destination, the tide was turning in. The bite was great and the team brought in fifteen beautiful sheepshead. Next up, was the trout and with the gulf water temperature in the low 60's now; we hit the shallow yellow hard bottom area's and DOA jerk baited some trout. My team did fantastic and in two drifts, they had their limit of fine trout. We added a nice red fish to top off the day and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Hot Trout & Sheepshead...

What a fantastic trip today with the Yoho family and the bite was on. Kaye, Dan and Tommy were my guests and they had a really good day. We ran to some hard bottom breaks and dropped down our knocker rigs for the sheepshead. The sheepshead action was superb and we kept our 5 fish per person limit that I encourage and we then made our way to target trout. We targeted some submerged rock bars and found several nice trout - jigging MirrOlure Lil Johns. The team had an excellent day and a catch to be proud of. I look forward to our future charters and thank you all for the fun day... Capt. Dan

A fun 1/2 day charter with Chris and Chase on board and we caught a couple fine trout. I wanted to give sheepshead fishing a go, but the wind was up and I really didn't have the time to make the run offshore. So for plan B, we jigged up a couple trout along the rocks and caught some real nice trout. Once again, bourbon colored MirrOlure Lil' Johns were the bait of choice. A fun morning and I thank you both for the great day... Capt. Dan

A little breezy today out of the NE, but we eventually made our way out to sheepshead land. Dan, Ringo and Bob were on board with me for the day and we did a little mix of trout and sheepshead fishing. The trout bite was a little slow for us, but it was due to the stiff NE wind and made maneuvering around the rock bars challenging. Eventually though, the wind calmed enough to make it offshore and the sheespshead bite was fantastic. The guys caught their 15 sheepshead on one stop and had a fantastic day. I thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

An incredible day out of Crystal River with Bill, Jerry and Roland and the team had quite the day. I made a run out to 20ft and the sheepshead bite was on. I anchored on one of my favorite sheepshead breaks and we caught some whoppers. Bill had big fish honors with one at 11lbs and it was a true trophy. The guys caught their 15 sheepshead, and we began targeting some trout for the afternoon. Jigging MirrOlure Lil Johns in the bourbon color was the trout ticket and we caught a couple keepers each drift. A beautiful day and I thank you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Always a fun time every year taking out the Homosassa Elementary 5th grade students and this year was a great time as well. I had Mrs. Harrell's students on board and Robbie, Austin and Carson had a blast catching several mangrove snapper and lady fish. We had 14 guides on the trip and 50 students participate in both fishing and some science work as well. The Homosassa blue waters had plenty of action for us and I thank the entire group for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Big Crystal River Sheeps...

A great weather day finally, and Bob and Nancy caught some fine Crystal River heavy weight sheepshead. We left the Plantation on Crystal River at 8:30 am and began the day red fishing. We caught one under slot fish and saw some good ones; but that was all we could come up with for the red fish. Next up though, we hammered down and made our way West. I anchored on some good sheepshead bottom and the bite was on. The team brought in some of the largest ones of the year and they did a great job. I thank you both as always and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Choppy Sheeps...

Not to sound like a broken record but yes folks, the wind was up again today. I had Pat and Matt on board and we started the day off back in Salt River targeting red fish. I located a beautiful school of fish with all of them in access of 30", "really big fish". We staked out, let the fish calm down and present some free lined live shrimp to them perfectly. We hooked up on a pair, fought them for a minute or so, and both the hooks pulled out. I couldn't believe it, but it does happen. We were loosing tide, so I eased to some shallow rock piles and we picked up 8 nice sheepshead to fill out the afternoon. The wind started howling around 1:30pm and we took our time getting home. A good time and I look forward to next time. Here's Matt with one of today's sheepshead... Capt. Dan
