Crystal River Fishing Charters & Homosassa Charters

A great grouper trip today with Shane and Doug and these guys usually inshore fish; so today they got a taste of grouper digging. For their trip, we kept it simple and targeted some ledges for the gags. The team trolled up close to twenty grouper with three making it to the cooler. The calm before the upcoming front tomorrow and today, the Settin the Hook ladies team had an awesome grouper day. The team met me at the Plantation on Crystal River at 9am and with glass calm conditions, we headed to 38ft. It was a trolling day and the Rapala x-raps brought the ladies home an awesome catch of grouper. Natural colored plugs were the flavor of the day and I thank you Ann, Ashley and Michelle for the great time... Capt. Dan

A nice variety today with Al and David and the weather was beautiful. The trout game started our day and with DOA jerk baits in hand, we had a nice catch to get the day going. The next plan was to add a grouper to the mix, but they were finicky. The team worked hard and eventually caught a nice keeper, plus a fine late season cobia. A pair of red fish ended our trip and I thank you both for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Another beautiful day out of Crystal River and with the wind down, we were able to catch a couple grouper. Chris and Steve were with me for the day and trout was our first species of the day. The bite was much better today and we found some nice keepers for the morning hours. The guys did great on the trout and with the wind down, we ran offshore a bit and trolled up a pair of fine grouper. Chris caught his first couple keeper grouper and then we ended the day on the late tide, with some red fish. A wonderful day with you both and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

The gusty NE wind was with us once again today with Jami and Bruce on Saturday's Crystal River charter and we had a good one. I picked up the couple at the Plantation on Crystal River and the shallow water trout started our day. Jami had the hot rod and she caught some nice keepers to get the day going. I moved around a little bit and the team caught a couple more good ones, before we ran to shallow grouper land. The grouper bite was great when we first began, but tapered off throughout the day. I covered "A LOT" of ground and we released several gags just under the 24" mark; but a couple keepers came on board and the day was made. John and Val were with me for the day for a fun charter in Homosassa and with the windy conditions, we did well. The day started out on the shallow grass flats using DOA glow jerk baits and we caught a couple nice trout to get the day going. Grouper was on the menu for dinner and even though the trout were biting, we headed West and caught some fine gags. We had to work for them and the floating grass has become an issue in a good lure presentation, but we made it happen. The husband and wife team brought in a fine catch and I thank you both for the great day... Capt. Dan

The Coleman team was on board with me today and what a great day inshore. Clell and Lee started our day catching some nice trout on DOA glow jerk baits and in just a couple hours, we had a awesome catch of trout. Next up on the incoming tide, we got an early jump for some red fish and did well. Live shrimp in the mullet schools produced some fine red fish and we even added a nice gag grouper on a shallow crack to end the day. Always a fun day with the Kennedy party and Mike, Mike and Tim had a nice little variety for the day. Red fish were are first target species of the day and the bite was a slow steady as we moved from point to point. When the tide got right though, we left them biting plus picked up a couple trout. We left the inshore scene just before noon and trolled up a couple nice gags to fill out our afternoon. I really enjoyed the day and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Joe and Joanne joined me today out of Crystal River for some red fish and grouper action. The red fish bite started our day and we did well on one stop using live shrimp. The husband and wife team caught some nice slot fish and next, we were off to grouper land. We fished the 30ft range and had some solid grouper action. Numerous 22" to 23" gags kept us busy, but the big boys were around too and we found them. A beautiful day and I thank you both as always... Capt. Dan

Well, we finished up Phil's vacation with a fun day and we were fortunate to hit the Homosassa hat trick. Red fish, grouper and trout were our species today and it was a perfect day. The late morning tide and nice weather made the conditions right for targeting the different species. The water offshore was beautiful in the 15ft range and fire tiger was our flavor of the day for the grouper. The trout favored the glow DOA jerk baits and once again, live shrimp for red fish. A wonderful couple of days with you, your family and I sure enjoyed our day today... Capt. Dan
