A fun day out of the Plantation on Crystal River and myself and Capt. William Toney had the pleasure of hosting Sport Fishing Magazine for the day. They are featuring the Crystal River area for an upcoming story and we had a ball. My group caught several beautiful offshore trout and Stephanie caught her first tarpon. Capt. Toney did great on the trout as well and was in schools of tarpon all day; but couldn't get one to cooperate just right. This is going to be a great story and several other Homosassa Guides Association members are taking the editors fishing from inshore to offshore for additional photographs. Thank you all for a great day and here's our tarpon that got the day started... Capt. Dan
The red fish action was much better than it has been over the last few trips and today's group caught some nice ones. I had Eric, Andrew and Jim on board for the day out of Pete's Pier Marina for a full day inshore Crystal River charter. The morning began to a steady incoming tide and we found some quality red fish. We did have to move around some and they weren't on any one key. Free lined live shrimp was the bait of choice. Our next stop was trying to get a good trout bite going. (If your planning on targeting trout anytime soon, I suggest running to at least 10ft of water if the weather allows). We caught a couple keepers inshore, but the conditions were a little to bumpy to run offshore to where the action is. We had a nice catch and the gang had a great time. Here's Andrew with his big red fish of the day... Capt. Dan
Another fun day with my bride and we worked hard to chase down a tarpon. For those of you that don't know, my wife's a school teacher and when summers here, she wants to go fishing. Today was one of our scheduled days to fish and we did some running around. We checked the usual locations and saw a couple, but my good friend Capt. Clay Shidler gave me a hot lead on an approaching school. We set up the drift, lead the fish and the DOA bait buster did the rest. A great fight, we took some fantasitc pictures and watched her swim away... Capt. Dan

A quick red fish bite this morning for John and Brian, but the keeper trout were non existent. We left from Pete's Pier Marina just before 9am, ran out to the keys and fish on! The guys caught a nice pair of slot sized red fish in a matter of minutes and I said lets go find some trout (so I thought). We tried several places inshore and caught plenty of under slot trout, but I was cursed and couldn't produce a keeper today. The winds finally calmed around noon but by then, it was time to head in from our 1/2 day charter. I thank you guys for all your hard work and we'll find those trout next time. Here's Brian with his first red fish... Capt. Dan
