Big Surprise. April. 1st 2011

Written by
P4010431After a couple days of high winds and heavy rain, it was good to be back on the water. I was at the Homosassa Fishing Club today, with fellow Homosassa Guides Association members Mark Zorn, William Toney, Rick Spratt and Charlie Harris for the annual Jaboree. The Jaboree consists of husband and wife teams and I had the West family on board today. The trout bite was a little slow for the first part of the morning, but once the tide made up it's mind and came in, the trout turned on. Our big surprise today was hooking into a large black drum that gave our light tackle a great work out. A beautiful day on the water and I thank you both for a fun day. Here is Tom with the big drum... Capt. Dan

Jigging Trout. March 26th 2011

Written by
P3260428It's getting busy offshore and more and more different species are beginning to be caught. I had Kevin, Gretchen, Richard and Josh on board out of Pete's Pier today and we caught some beautiful offshore trout. The action was steady all day and having a mixture of flounder, trout, sea bass, ladyfish, mackerel and cobia was our bag of surprises. Using a combination of DOA and gulp shrimp were today's baits of choice. We didn't have a tide for redfishing, so we stuck to the trout and had a great catch to show for it. Thank you all for a fun time and look forward to seeing you again... Capt. Dan

Mixed Bag. March. 23rd 2011

P3230427The trout bite was on today and we also had some red fish and mackerel as well. Bill, Reese and Len met me at Pete's Pier this morning and we started the day targeting trout. The trout action was hot and numerous shorts along with several keepers kept us busy for the last of the outgoing tide. DOA deadly combo once again was the ticket for success. As the tide started to turn and come in, we ran a couple miles offshore and chummed up a few macks. However, the winds were picking up so we didn't stay long and then continued off to the red fish creeks. The reds were cooperative and they guys were able to boat six Ozello red fish. Thanks guys for the fun day and always looks forward to our next trip... Capt. Dan

P3210422A picture perfect day and a great catch of fish to go along with it. I met Wendell, Bob and Mitch at Pete's Pier this morning and we caught a little variety. We started out the day chumming up the macks and in no time, we had all we needed. Our next stop was to add a few trout to the mix. Using a combination of DOA glow jerk baits and holographic root beer shrimp deadly combos, we quickly added six keeper trout to the cooler. Our final stop was to try and find a red fish. Well, we did, but all nine of them were around the 17" mark. The reds were fun and all three species were accomplished. Thank you all for a memorable day on the water and look forward to seeing you all again... Capt. Dan
