Homosassa on Fire Oct. 8th 2010

Written by

PA080162What a day! Myself and Captains Mark Zorn, William Toney, Rick Spratt and Charlie Harris fished the Homosassa Fishing Club for an outstanding day on the water. The trout bite was as good as it gets and the red fish cooperated as well. Between all the boats,74 keeper trout were brought in and several nice upper slot red fish made their way to the dock. I had the 2nd place catch today while Capt. Z beat me by 4 trout. The DOA shrimp deadly combos in the glow and holographic root beer continue to be the top producers for the trout. Perefect weather and hungry fish, it just doesn't get any better than that. Here's my crew for the day, David, Ernie and Richard with today's catch...Capt. Dan

mercury_optimaxI wanted to give a big thank you to Mercury for there 2010 sponsorship. I have been running Mercury engines on my last three boats and without a question they are the most reliable, fuel efficient outboards available. If anyone has any questions about there engines feel free to contact me anytime...Capt. Dan

More Wind and Trout Oct. 6th 2010

Written by
PA060158I had the same gang again today and the same conditions. The steady NE wind made it a challenge to get a steady bite going, but we caught several trout and red fish through out the day. We made a quick run offshore Crystal River to try and troll up a grouper, but the water clarity was very dirty; so we ran back to the kelp beds and stayed inshore for the rest of the day. The trout bite for the day was on and off.  However, we did catch plenty of under slot trout, a couple keepers and a few small red fish to fill out the day. There was no special bait that out preformed the other and we threw everything from top water plugs, jerk baits and DOA deadly combos. Thanks guys for a fun couple days and hard efforts. I'll see you in a few months... Capt. Dan
PA050156Good to be back at the office after having a fantastic Maine trip. I had Jim, Donnie and Jesse out of Crystal River today to target some trout and red fish. We met at Pete's Pier this morning at 8am and although the winds were a gusty 15mph plus, the trout bite was on. It was rough on the outside, so we fished the mouth of some mangrove bays and it was steady action all morning. DOA shrimp and Berkly gulps in the holographic root beer and camo colors were the hot colors today. Tide made high just after noon and even though we didn't have alot of water, there was enough to put 11 red fish in the boat.  Free lined live shrimp under a cork was the bait of choice for the day. The conditions were not the best, but the guys worked hard and had a great catch to show for it. Thanks again... Capt. Dan
