P9160768The 2011 grouper season opened today and along with my good friends Tiger and Cade, the season started off great. Having not been to my offshore locations for close to 9 months, it was fun to check out my hot spots. We primarily fished in the 20ft range, caught a few keepers and then checked out some other areas. Live pinfish was the bait of choice and I thank you both for a great time... Capt. Dan
P9150764Mangrove snapper, Spanish mackerel, grunts, trout and flounder; what an awesome day. Bill, Jerry and Mel joined me today out of Pete's Pier marina and we were offshore bound to the rock piles. With the full moon still hovering overhead, I knew the snapper would be cooperative. We put 13 keeper mangos in the cooler and all were well over the 10" mark. The rest of the species filled out the day and just a live shrimp on a 1/8oz Hank Brown jig head was the tackle of choice. We finished up the day catching a few trout on DOA deadly combos, and another perfect charter out of Crystal River. Thanks guys for the outstanding day and enjoy your fish dinners... Capt. Dan

Nature Coast Outdoors T.V. Show.

Written by

I just finished filming an upcoming episode of Nature Coast Outdoors with my good friend and host Capt. William Toney. I don't want to spoil whats coming, but it's definitely one you will not want to miss. Look for it to air later next month and I'll see you water... Capt. Dan

P9110754It was day three and the final day for the Maddox party, and John Jr. was my guest on board. Myself and Capt. Zorn ran south and began the day picking up some nice trout. The short trout were keeping us busy, but every now and then a keeper would get mixed in. The tide was turning around 11am, so it was back north to the red fish schools. The big bulls showed up today and on our first stop, we had a school over twenty just feet away from the boat. John immediately hooked up on a spoon and I on a DOA jerk bait and we repeated this a couple times. The schools cruised through and it was awesome while it lasted. We finished up the day catching a few more trout and headed back to the club. Thanks to you all for a fun couple days and look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan
