Hot, Hot, Hot. June 21st 2011

P6210584It was a hot one today out of Crystal River and Vic, Jeff and Joe had a great 1/2 day charter. We left Pete's Pier at 8am and ran offshore and jigged up some trout. The trout bite was outstanding and for an hour and a half, we had a trout on our line just about every cast. Numerous under slot trout were the majority of the catch, but we did manage 10 keepers in all the action. For a change of pace, we left the trout and anchored up on a rock pile to see what else we could find. The guys brought in some grunts, released some grouper and added a couple mackerel to the mix. We called it a day just after noon and another beautiful (and hot) day out of Crystal River. Thanks again for the fun day and  hope to see you soon... Capt. Dan
P6200583Today's charter was little bit of a change, we did an afternoon 1/2 day charter out of Homosassa. Gene, Linda and Paige met me at Macrae's at noon and we spent the afternoon casting jigs and catching a fun variety of species. We fished in the 10ft depth range and picked up several keeper speckled trout and a few silvers to add to the mix. DOA near clear shrimp and camo gulp shrimp were today's top producers and young Paige was reeling them in like a pro. We realeased a few keepers and kept just enough for a meal. Thank you all for a great afternoon and here is today's prize pompano... Capt. Dan
P6170577Today was a tough one to beat! We had perfect weather, awesome action and a little variety of species. Clell, Lee and Aaron met me at Pete's Pier this morning and the gang needed some fillets for a fish fry. We ran offshore to the deep spotty bottom areas and we had an outstanding day. The trout bite was on fire and we had several keepers and released more shorts than I could count. The usual mixed bag of species were also part of the day and a combination of DOA shrimp and gulps were today's baits of choice. Around 1pm we ran to the creeks and picked up a couple red fish, but only one made it in the slot. Thank you all for the great day and always look forward to our next trip... Capt. Dan
P6160573Riding the storm out at Macrae's, well that's how I began the day. My clients today were at their home down the Homosassa river near the Hell's Gate area and with heavy T-storms in the morning, we got a little bit of a late start. The storm passed and with a quick run down river, Shawn and Paul were on board around 10am to find some trout and red fish. We caught several trout in the 4ft depth range using DOA deadly combos, but the guys were anxious to find some red fish. The conditions were perfect and the red fish bite was on. We totaled 13 reds, some were under the slot, some were in the slot, and one big dog almost 30". Free lined live shrimp was the bait of choice. Thank you both for a fun time and here is Paul with his big red of the day - Congratulations... Capt. Dan
