Rained Out. June. 30th 2011

Written by
P6300597It was short trip today out of Crystal River and with a 70% chance of rain, the forecast didn't look good. I picked up the Boone family at the Plantation Inn resort and the gang was game for giving it a try. We ran down river to some of the near shore oyster bars, made one quick drift and we picked up about a dozen trout. We had two keepers right away and with the dark skies closing in fast, we headed back home. We just beat the rain when we returned back to shore, and the rest of the day was a wash out. Let's hope for better conditions next time and here's the Boone family with one of their trout. Thanks again... Capt. Dan

Dodging Storms. June. 29th 2011

Written by
P6290594My plan today was to take Jim and Conner offshore jigging and have some mixed bag action. Well, we started the day doing just that, but the skies turned dark and unfortunately we had to run back inshore. However, we were able to make a couple quick drifts and we put four nice trout in the cooler in short order. The skies cleared some, so we stopped on a couple points and found a red fish or two, before our 1/2 day Crystal River charter was finished. Thanks guys for the fun morning and enjoy tonight's fresh fish dinner... Capt. Dan

Seafood Platter! June. 27th 2011

Written by
P6270592Another great mixed bag out of Crystal River and I have Ryan, Shaun and Barry to thank. I met my crew at Pete's Pier this morning and we started the day targeting red fish. We stopped on a couple locations and caught a handful of red fish, but only one today made it to the slot size. With the tide topping out, we ran offshore to the spotty bottom areas and boated a plethora of species. Using a combination of DOA holographic root beer shrimp and new penny gulps, we totaled over 10 different species throughout the day. It was a hot one , but the action was steady and Ryan caught his first trout and red fish. Thank you all for the fun day and enjoy tonight's seafood platter... Capt. Dan

Crystal River,1st Red. June 24th 2011

Written by
P6240589I had my annual long distance clients from Maine on board today and we were all set to find some trout and red fish. Janet and Brian met me at Pete's Pier this morning to an incoming tide, so we ran to the keys and picked up a couple red fish. Free lined live shrimp, presented in with the mullet schools, brought our red fish to the boat. Next, we jigged up a few keeper trout offshore, but the bite was pretty slow. The breeze stopped, the heat turned on and with enough fish for dinner, we called it a day. I always enjoy spending the day you both and have fun at Riverside Crab house dinning on your catch. Here's Janet with her first red fish... Capt. Dan
