Ice and Sheepies. Feb. 13th 2011

Written by
P2130365Another cold start on the Crystal River this morning. Ice covered the boat once again, but the upcoming week looks much warmer and it's forecasted to be great fishing conditions. Today I had my great clients Mischel and Earl on board and they wanted to experience the sheepshead bite we have been having. We ran offshore and fished a variety of structure ranging from 5ft to 10 ft and caught several sheepshead. The bite was a little slow to start, and I attribute that to the gulf dropping 7 degrees in the last three days. However, around mid morning and beautiful sunny skies, the fish turned on and it was a great afternoon. Thank you both for another great day on the water and I'll see you soon... Capt. Dan

Over Seas Sheepshead! Feb. 9th 2011

Written by
P2090357I had a great family on board today out of Pete's Pier, and we ran offshore for some Crystal River sheepshead. Bob and his family Dana and Stefan from Germany, had an outstanding day to say the least. We fished a variety of structures and the sheepshead were on the feed. Almost every location produced a few keepers and after we had enough for a meal, we caught and released a few others. Live shrimp on a knocker rig was the producer once again. Thanks to you all for an outstanding day and have a safe trip back to Germany... Capt. Dan

P1310352The sheepshead bite continues to be the best bet, and today was no exception.  I had Sam and Reggie on board today, out of Pete's Pier and we found the big ones. Today's sheepshead were on the large size and several were in the 4lb to 7lb range. It was steady action on all the locations we fished, and the guys kept 13 for their upcoming Superbowl fish fry. A simple knocker rig with a live shrimp and targeting any piece of structure offshore will get a bite. Thanks to you both for the fun day and here is Reggie with the largest sheepshead of the year "so far"... Capt. Dan

Black and White Stripes Jan. 29th 2011

Written by
P1290347A great day out of Crystal River and we were seeing black and white; sheepshead stripes that is. I had Ryan and Dr. Chris Mckenney on board today and the guys requested to give the sheepshead bite a try. It was one of those picture perfect days, calm seas, clear water and the fish were on the feed. We fished a variety of structure's today and all produced quality sheepshead. A live shrimp on a 1/8oz knocker rig was the tackle choice for the day. The guys kept a few to feed the families, while we released several others to fight again. Thanks for the fun charter and I'll see you soon... Capt. Dan
