P2230382The early arrival of the Spanish mackerel is a welcomed sight. With just a couple of more days until trout season opens, it's nice to be able to add a little variety to the cooler. I had Tom and Paul on board today out of Pete's Pier  and we ran offshore Crystal River to absolute beautiful conditions. Crystal clear water, mackerel every where and a few hungry sheepshead made for a perfect day. The macks were caught on jigs and free lined shrimp, while the sheepies were boated on the live shrimp knocker rig combination. Thanks guys for an outstanding day and look forward to our next charter... Capt. Dan

P2210381The gulf waters continues to be crystal clear and the sheepshead are still on the rocks. I had Steve and Helen on board today out of Pete's Pier and we ran offshore and caught a little variety. Sheepshead, sea bass, grunts, porgies and Spanish mackerel kept us busy and a picture perfect day made a great day on the water. Today the water reached 64 degrees and a abundace of pin fish on the rocks was a good sight to see. On the way in salt river, we stopped on a  point and Helen caught a nice slot red fish that she released to fight another day. Thanks to you both for a fun time and enjoy your fresh fish being prepared at Peck's Old Port Cove in Ozello. Also, a big thank you for all who attended our Homosassa Guides Association annual fish fry yesterday at Macrae's. It was a huge success... Capt. Dan

What a difference a day makes. Today the gulf hit the magic 60 degree mark and it was like some one hit a light switch. The were a few schools of glass minnows, several mackerel hitting the surface and the pin fish were stealing our baits. I had the Fellows family on board out of Crystal River and we caught a mixed bag. Targeting the offshore rock piles we caught black sea bass, mackerel, sheepshead and a few flounder. The water was the clearest I've seen yet, but the sheepshead didn't feed as well as they have been. On one location we saw well over several dozen large sheepshead, but I believe they had spawning on there minds instead of eating. It was great to see a variety of species and P2180379today's catch is one of the best for good eats. Thanks to Alan, Karen, Pete and Alan for a fun day... Capt. Dan

P2170374I know there hasn't been much variety in my recent trips, but in the coming weeks that will soon change. Today I had the Powell family on board to experience the ever reliable sheepshead bite. It was quite foggy this morning as we eased out the Crystal River, but when we hit the mouth of the river, it cleared considerably. We arrived at our destination and the rest was history. Several hefty sheepshead made there way into the cooler and it was another great day in the books. The gulf is approaching the 60 degree mark and we're going to see some big changes shortly. Thanks to you all for a fun time and hope to see you soon.... Capt. Dan
