A Little Tough. April 19th 2011

Written by
P4190468A little bit of a tough one out of Crystal River today. I met Karen and Bill at Pete's Pier this morning and the day started with very foggy conditions. We made our way out the river and began catching a few trout. Mostly shorts were on the line, but we did manage a few keepers and we found the gulfs entire lady fish population; well it seemed that way. We did catch a mixed variety and nine different species made there way into the boat. We tried for a red fish with the early afternoon incoming tide, but only could find 1 under slot red. The day turned out to be gorgeous and I thank you both for a great day on the water. Look forward to seeing you soon... Capt. Dan
P4180465A special day out of the Tradewinds on the Homosassa, with my good clients Mishel and Earl. Today we practiced "CPR" Catch, Photograph and Release. We started the day offshore making two long drifts and boated numerous trout, along with the usual mixed species. 12 of the trout were beautiful keepers and the largest was a little over the 20" mark. Today's hot color was the DOA near clear shrimp. The full moon tide was rushing in, so we spent the rest of the afternoon chasing down some red fish. Red fishing is still a little tough, but we manged six to finish out the day. Thank you both for a fun day and here is Earl with a multi spotted red fish that couldn't resist a free lined live shrimp...

Windy Trout. April 16th 2011

P4160461Today was day two for the West party at the Homosassa Fishing Club and I had Bert and Herb on board. We had a steady SW wind today and by the afternoon, it was approaching the 20mph mark. We stayed well inshore and the guys caught their limit of trout using DOA deadly combos, along with several shorts to keep us busy. We did make a quick stop and picked up a couple red fish, but all were around the 17" range. Just after noon, we pulled up to the island and prepared another great shore lunch with all the fixings. Thanks to everyone for a fun group trip and here's Bert and Herb with today's catch... Capt. Dan

P4150459A busy day out of the Homosassa Fishing Club! The West party was in town and the fishing couldn't have been any better. Myself and Captains Mark Zorn, William Toney, Rick Spratt, Jody Johnson, Gary Cox and Charlie Harris had some fantastic catches and 92 keeper trout made there way to the dock. I ran offshore and and fished the deeper hard bottom areas and we caught some quality sized trout. Three fish were over the 20"mark and we had well over a 100 fish day. Mackerel, sea bass, grouper, blue fish, sharks, lady fish, and the list goes on; was all part of the day. My crew consisted of Iqbal, Dave and John and the guys did great. Thanks for a fun time and look forward to seeing you next year.
