Homosassa Macks. March 19th 2011

Written by
P3190417A great day out of Homosassa with an outstanding group from the Homosassa fishing club. Myself and fellow Homosassa Guides Association Captains, Mark Zorn and Rick Spratt put the Turman party on boat loads of mackerel. I had Diane, David, George and Carolyn on board and the couples did fantastic, before we ran inshore for a great shore lunch. The macks kept us extremely busy and in just a couple hours fishing the boats totaled almost a 100 Spanish mackerel. One of the most fish catching days some of the members could remember. Thank you for a fun time and here is my crew with a few of the macks... Capt. Dan
P3170415I had David and Adam on board today and we were red for St. Patty's day ( red fish that is). I picked up the guys from the Plantation Inn and we started the day loading up on the mackerel. It was not stop action with several fish just under the 30" mark. We had a few surprise guest in the chum slick, with them being some hefty bull sharks. All I had on board was my light inshore rods, but we fed them a few macks and it was smoking drag action. As you guessed, the fight didn't last long and we actually did it three times before we left them alone. The tide was making high, so we ran to the creeks and immediatley boated six beautiful red fish. The guys did a great job and thank you for the fun day. Here is Adam with his first red fish... Capt. Mackerel Mania! March 16th 2011

Written by

P3160410Pretty much the same story again today! The Spanish mackerel are here and in unbelievable numbers. I had Clell, Richard and Lee on board out of Pete's Pier and the guys wanted in on the mackerel action. We ran offshore to the same productive area as yesterday and it was fish on. Mackerel after mackerel came aboard and we even picked up another bonus pompano as a surprise. The trout bite was still quite slow offshore and only caught a few, but it's going to cut loose here shortly. Thanks for the fun charter and look forward to seeing you all again. Enjoy tonight's fish fry... Capt. Dan

kellyAnother drag screaming day offshore Crystal River. I had the Holmes family on board and the group had an outstanding day catching Spanish mackerel and trout. We ran a few miles offshore, anchored up over some hard bottom, free lined some shrimp and the rest was history. Two and three on at a time was a little hectic, but that's what mackerel fishing is all about. On the way in we hit a couple spots inshore and found a few keeper trout to add to the mix. Thanks for the fun day everybody and we'll see you next time... Capt. Dan
