PA050805We earned them today on our 1/2 day charter out of Crystal River. The winds howled out of the east once again, but my clients Melanie and Rob stuck it out and did a great job for the tough conditions we had to contend with. Red fish was the species requested, but the tide never made it high enough to target them. Our next plan was to fish the shallow flats with the DOA deadly combos and find a couple trout. The trout bite wasn't bad and we had lots of action with six making it to the keepers size. We picked up a couple mackerel mixed in with the trout to finish out the day. Thank you both for a great time and look forward to seeing you again... Capt. Dan

PA040802Fishing has been hot one day and cold the next, over the last couple days. With the recent cold front and a couple tough days trying to get the grouper to cooperate, today's charter was a welcomed catch. Yesterdays trip was a fun one and we did catch some grouper, but the big one's got away and we had more break off's than I could count. So, for a change of pace, I ran to the shallow rock piles today and caught a little mixed variety. My good client Doug and his friends Leon and Linus (who work for ESPN's Monday night foot ball) were in town from the Tampa Bay/Colts game and we had a great day out of Crystal River. Starting the day we were catching several trout, but mostly shorts were on the of our lines on our first couple stops. Leaving the trout action, we ran to the rock piles and in no time, we were catching flounder, snapper, grunts, porgy's, etc.. and had plenty of fish for the cooler. Another picture perfect day on the water and fall in definatley in the air. Thank you all for the fun time and here is the crew with today's catch...  Capt. Dan
PA010798A little change in the plans today. I originally had the Coleman family scheduled for a full day of grouper fishing, but due to the much welcomed cold front; we changed to an afternoon 1/2 day trip. The wind was gusting out of the North at a steady 15mph and leaving Pete's Pier at 1pm, we were welcomed to extreme low tide conditions. Targeting trout was our primary species and working the shallow kelp patches, the crew put 7 keeper sized trout in the cooler, while releasing several under slot throughout the afternoon.  Once again the DOA deadly combos in the holographic root beer shrimp and Mirrolure Lil' Johns got the job done. Just after 5pm, the tide was finally making high so we could try our luck at a red fish. With only enough time to stop on one point, we caught 4 red fish with one in the 24" range and the others falling short of the 18" mark. Today was our first taste of fall and it was an absolute beautiful evening on the Crystal River. Thank you all for the fun time and look forward to seeing again soon... Capt. Dan
P9290795I had a wonderful couple on board today, Martha Gale and Dick joined me for a fun day on the water. Leaving from their condo on the Crystal River, we spent the day catching some quality trout. We covered a lot of ground from the bars off the beach to the spotty bottom areas south of the bird rack. Using primarily holographic root beer DOA deadly combos and MirrOlure Lil' Johns were our trout baits of the day. We made a quick couple stops to find a red fish, but the tide was quite right and picked up a couple that were under slot, before we called it a day. Thank you both for a great time and look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan
