P9100750It was day two at the Homosassa Fishing Club and once again the red fish bite was on. For the most part it was the same story as yesterday, but the quality of red fish were definitely up. Using fresh cut mullet around the points and fishing incoming tide was our technique of the day. We landed 11 beautiful red fish with all but two that were in the slot. The majority of them were in the 24" range all but our three keepers were safely released to fight another day. Thanks again guys for the fun time and we'll see you tomorrow. Here's John with one of today's red fish... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Redfish. Sept.9th 2011

Written by
P9090747I was at the Homosassa Fishing Club today with my good friend Capt. Mark Zorn and we were fishing the John Maddox party. Red fish was the species requested and we delivered. While we were waiting for the tide to get going, we made a few drifts and caught some trout. Using DOA deadly combos with the holographic root beer shrimp was keeping the trout bite steady. Around 11am the tide was getting right to start hunting some red fish. We totaled 12 red fish for the afternoon and just about every point we fished produced a couple fish. Thanks guys for the fun day and here is John with a couple of today's Homosassa reds... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Reds. Sept. 8th 2011

Written by

P9080739We had an early taste of fall this morning going out the Crystal River and what a welcomed surprise. A very pleasant cool morning and I had the Platz family on board to enjoy it. Once we reached the mouth of the river, we ran south and began the morning catching a few trout. Plenty of shorts kept us busy, but we put a couple keepers in the cooler while we were waiting for the tide to get right to find a red fish. Around 11am we began working the outer points and the red fish were there. Using cut baits and live shrimp we totaled 9 red fish with several in the slot, a few under the slot and one just over the 30" mark. It was the perfect day with a great family and fantastic fishing. Thank you all for the fun time and here is Richard with the big red fish of the day... Capt. Dan

A Red Labor Day Monday. Sept. 5th 2011

Written by

P9050734Windy conditions out of Crystal River today, but we had one outstanding red fish bite.  Having three John's on board out of Pete's Pier marina, we made the best of the condtions and tucked back in to the creeks. We fished the first two hours of the out going tide and my crew boated eleven beautiful red fish. A free lined shrimp once again was today's bait of choice. After the great red fish action, we made one drift and caught several trout with a few keepers mixed in. DOA deadly combos rigged with the 3" holographic watermelon shrimp was the hot color of the day. The winds kicked up close to 20mph out of the south, so we called it a day. Thanks guys for the fun morning and hope to see you soon... Capt. Dan
