After cancelling and rescheduling the last several days due to torrential rains, it was great to be back on the water. The Morrissey family joined me today out of Pete's Pier for a 1/2 day Crystal River charter. We began working the deeper spotty bottom grass patches in 10ft of water and catching several trout. The water was quite dirty due to the recent rains, but it didn't seem to affect the trouts appetite. We put a couple keepers in the cooler and our next stop was to add some grunts, snapper, flounder, etc... to the mix. With the tide running in and the West wind, made for anchoring a breeze and shortly it was fish on. We caught our mixed bag and called it a day. Thank you all for a wonderful time and look for forward to seeing you again on your next visit... Capt. Dan

John and Samantha joined me for a 1/2 day Crystal River charter and we did a little inshore and offshore fishing. We left from Pete's Pier marina this morning and started the day working the inshore islands. Using my favorite plug, the Yo-Zuri mag darter, we caught a couple snook, trout and jack crevelles for the first hour of fishing. Having a great start to the day and calm seas, we ran out to 20ft of water and tried some offshore deeper structures. Once we anchored up, four cobia greeted us, and immediately had instant hook ups. Landing two cobia in short order, a couple mackerel, numerous grunts and breaking off a large Goliath grouper; we had an outstanding day. Thank you both for a fun morning and hope to see you soon... The gag groupers were the stars of the day and Frank, Bill and Bo all caught their share. I met the guys at the Homosassa Fishing Club house and we ran out the main river, with our next stop being the offshore rock piles. Plenty of action as we fished the various structures and numerous grunts, snapper, sea bass and mackerel filled the cooler. However, the big bites of the day were all the grouper. We caught numerous gags and a couple hefty ones at that. I'll admit, we did get lucky turning them away form the rocks with our light tackle, but my crew fought them perfect. Once again, just a live shrimp on a 1/8thoz Hank Brown jig head was the bait of choice. Great job today gentleman and look forward to seeing you soon. Here's Bo with a beautiful Homosassa gag released to fight another day... Capt. Dan
