A Crystal River shore lunch special! Myself and fellow Homosassa Guides Association Captains, Gary Cox, Todd Corneillie, Don Chancey and Jim Long prepared an outstanding shore lunch on shell island at the mouth of the Crystal River. We picked up our party from the Plantation Inn and I had Bob, Jacob and Jeff on board. My crew did great on catching some beautiful trout and with DOA shrimp in hand, they had their lunch covered. We ran offshore and fished the deeper grass patches in the 10ft range and the guys put 7 keepers in the cooler, along with a few sea bass and a silver trout to fill out the morning. We arrived at the island just afternoon and everyone experience the whole spread of hush puppies, baked beans, fried fish, and cole slaw. Thanks everybody for the fun time and the cocktails back at the Plantation Tiki Hut. We all look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan
A busy day out of Crystal River and I have David and Charles to thank. We left from Pete's Pier this morning and started out the day catching several red fish. No big fish today and all were just under the slot. The guys had a blast catching them and it's always good to see our upcoming red fish stock is such good numbers. The tide topped out on the high, so we ran offshore and jigged up some beautiful trout. Using DOA holographic root beer shrimp once again was the bait of choice. The usual catch of sharks, sea bass, grouper lady fish, etc... always makes for an action packed day. Thank you both for a fun time and look forward to seeing you again... Capt. Dan
A fun 1/2 day charter out of Homosassa with Walt, Matt and Brian to do a little red fishing. We left Macrae's at 7am to catch the tide and find a red fish or two. It took some time for the tide to get rolling in, but once it did, the reds turned on. Using free lined live shrimp around the outside keys produced a few beautiful slot red fish. I always prefer to use circle hooks when red fishing to prevent snags on the rocks and they usually hook the fish in the corner of the mouth. Thanks guys for the fun time and here is Matt with one of today's red fish... Capt. Dan
Red fish in the morning, trout in the afternoon and another great day out of Crystal River. Clell, Lee and Richard met me at Pete's Pier this morning and we started the day catching a few red fish. We stopped on a couple points and boated five, with four of them below the slot and one that was just over the 27" mark. With the tide running out we ran offshore and found great trout action. The guys put 14 keepers in the cooler and the holographic root beer DOA shrimp was the color of choice. Numerous short trout along with the usual mixed bag of species filled out the day. Thank you all for the fun time and here is today's great catch... Capt. Dan
