I know there hasn't been much variety in my recent trips, but in the coming weeks that will soon change. Today I had the Powell family on board to experience the ever reliable sheepshead bite. It was quite foggy this morning as we eased out the Crystal River, but when we hit the mouth of the river, it cleared considerably. We arrived at our destination and the rest was history. Several hefty sheepshead made there way into the cooler and it was another great day in the books. The gulf is approaching the 60 degree mark and we're going to see some big changes shortly. Thanks to you all for a fun time and hope to see you soon.... Capt. Dan
Today we set the bar for the biggest sheepshead I've had on the boat and the overall quality in size. I had Dale from Wisconsin on board for his annual Ferbruary trip to Crystal River. The pressure was on for me because his family requested fish for a fish fry, so we were off to the sheepshead grounds once again. The seas were slick calm today, and it was an easy ride offshore. 11 keeper sheepshead made there way into the cooler and we had a total weight of almost 30lbs. It was a great day to remember and I thank you Dale for a fun time. Look forward to our trip next year and congratulations on the big sheepie... Capt. Dan
Another cold start on the Crystal River this morning. Ice covered the boat once again, but the upcoming week looks much warmer and it's forecasted to be great fishing conditions. Today I had my great clients Mischel and Earl on board and they wanted to experience the sheepshead bite we have been having. We ran offshore and fished a variety of structure ranging from 5ft to 10 ft and caught several sheepshead. The bite was a little slow to start, and I attribute that to the gulf dropping 7 degrees in the last three days. However, around mid morning and beautiful sunny skies, the fish turned on and it was a great afternoon. Thank you both for another great day on the water and I'll see you soon... Capt. Dan
I had a great family on board today out of Pete's Pier, and we ran offshore for some Crystal River sheepshead. Bob and his family Dana and Stefan from Germany, had an outstanding day to say the least. We fished a variety of structures and the sheepshead were on the feed. Almost every location produced a few keepers and after we had enough for a meal, we caught and released a few others. Live shrimp on a knocker rig was the producer once again. Thanks to you all for an outstanding day and have a safe trip back to Germany... Capt. Dan
