Another cold day on the Gulf of Mexico. I met Jason, Mike and Kelly at Pete's Pier this morning and with the forecast calling for small craft advisories, I wasn't sure what the day would bring. Well, the forecast was way off and the offshore conditions were nothing more than a light chop. The trout fishing is still a little tough right now, so we opted to target some sheepshead. Like my previous charter, all the location we fished today produced fish and we only took a couple off each structure. Blue Water Bait and Tackle live shrimp did the rick and the guys are taking their catch to Peck's Old Port Cove for a fresh fish dinner. Thanks again for the fun time and we'll see you soon... Capt. It's that time of year again, the sheepshead spawn in begining to take place here off the Nature Coast. The river fishing has tapered off some, (how many lady fish do you really want to catch), so I asked my clients today if they wanted to go offshore in search of some sheepshead. I met Mike, Megan, Matt and Natalia at Pete's Pier this morning and with perfect seas, we were offshore in no time. The bite was fantastic and every location we fished today produced some quality sheepshead. We boated well over twenty fish and kept enough for a meal of two, while releasing the others to spawn our future stock. Thank you all for a fun time today and look forward to our next charter... I want to thank all my clients for making 2010 a great success. I look forward to another great year and making more fish catching memories. I'll see you on the water... Capt. Dan
This morning was about as cold as it gets here in Citrus County. Launching the boat this morning, my truck registered 18 degrees and it was iced over from bow to stern. However, it didn't slow my clients down and Austin and Barret were ready to spend a 1/2 day charter on the Crystal River. We started out the morning fishing the river catching a few trout and lady fish on assorted DOA colored jigs. After we put a few trout in the cooler, we ran to some rocky shorelines and sight fished a couple red fish before we called it a day. The red fish we landed were on the small side, but we did see a few upper slot fish mixed in. We made the best of a cold situation and I thank you both for fun morning. Here are the guys with a double header. I'll see you next time... Capt. Dan
