Another outstanding charter out of Crystal River! I met Bart and Murray at Pete's Pier this morning for a full day of inshore fishing. We started out the day targeting trout on the 3ft to 5ft grass flats and the bite was on. A combination of stark naked, holographic watermelon and root beer DOA shrimp under a deadly combo cigar cork was all we needed to put them in the boat. After our good catch of trout we tried a couple points for some red fish and landed 9, but all were in the 15" to 17" range. It's great to see the abundance of smaller fish for the upcoming red fish stock and the future fishery is looking good. Thanks guys for the great day and here is today's catch...Capt. Dan
The Homosassa Fishing Club just had their annual jamboree and it was a great couple of days. 10 guides from the Homosassa guides association including myself, Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt, Jim Long, William Toney, Gary Cox, Fred Lyles, Marvin Williams, Don Chancey and Mike Locklear fished 30 members for a combination of fishing and shore lunches. The trout fishing was great and I won the pot on Sunday with 19 keepers before lunch. A combination of DOA shrimp deadly combos in the holographic root beer and natural color gulps put the trout in the boat. On Monday my crew could only fish a couple hours before they had to catch a plane back to Georgia, but we managed 9 nice keeper trout before 11am. The jamboree is always a fun couple of days of friendly competition between the guides and we always look forward to this time of year. Thanks again to all the members and we'll see you on the water soon...Capt. Dan
The winds were up today and it made for a tough day on the water. I had Bill and Mel on board out of Crystal River to do a 1/2 day of inshore fishing. There wasn't much of a tide to try and find a red fish, so we drifted the bars in Crystal Bay and found some trout. There was a steady 2ft chop and white caps, but the trout were hitting our DOA deadly combos pretty well. The holographic rootbeer was the hot color for the majority of the fish and the cigar shaped corks out produced the egg corks today. The guys fished hard and we had good laughs throughout the day. Thanks as always for the fun time and I'll see you again soon... Capt. Dan
It's that time of year again and the inshore grouper bite is getting better each day. I had Dan, Jan, Jay and Cecelia on board for there annual grouper trolling day. We left the dock just after 8am and ran just a few miles offshore and immediatly hooked up. We worked a ledge for a few passes and put 3 nice gags in the boat by 9:30am. The shorts soon followed and unfortunatly that was all the keepers we could find for the day. The wind picked up quite a bit and with plenty of fish for a meal or two we called it a day. The fire tiger color was hot today and with the water being dirty the brighter colors will continue to be the top producers. Thanks everyone for the fun trip and look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan
