Workshop....
A really great workshop for us today and I wanted to say thank you to Sarah Ellis for putting it all together. Myself and around 30 other captains and guides, spent the day at the Citrus County Marine Science Station learning about various subjects that effect our business. From fish biology, photography and managing your finances - it was a very productive day. The weather and fishing has been a bit off this week, but hoping for a better upcoming one. I'll see you soon... Capt. Dan
Slow Bite Sheep's...
A chilly one out there today with Tom, Chris and Dave on board and the bite was a bit slow. We went rock hopping and we caught a couple fish here and there, but not any steady action. We all contributed and each caught a couple grouper, sheepshead and grunts, while using live shrimp on a knocker rig. The team secured enough for a fish dinner or two and I thank you all... Capt. Dan
Friday Sheep's...
A really good day on the sheepshead with Tony, Wayne and Tony the tree guy. We bounced around the usual haunts and picked up a couple on each drop. The tide was running pretty hard today which kind of slowed the bite down a little. Around 1pm though as the tide got right, the bite definitely picked up and we finished the day nicely. Great job guys and we'll do it again soon.... Capt. Dan
Finally good Weather...
Finally some good weather. It's been a week of windy and very cold conditions since I was last out and today it was really nice. Mike and Tono were my guys today and with the gulf a very cold 54 degrees, sheepshead was going to be our plan. I pushed out to over 20ft of water and it was really good. Live shrimp did the trick and the team had a terrific catch. Thank you both and great job... Capt. Dan
Birthday Snapper...
Being my birthday today, I had my traditional crew of the last four years, Ian, Michelle and Jeff on board. Once again we had calm conditions, so we made the 20 plus mile ride offshore and really did great. The snapper didn't really bite well yesterday, but today was a different story. On just one rock we boated 20 keepers, plus numerous gags and grunts. The only down side was the dense wet sea fog and it made for a very long wet ride home. Still a great day and awesome job as always.... Capt. Dan
Crazy Gags and Mix...
Terrific action for us today and Harry and Mike had a busy day. I love my grouper and always glad to pull on a couple, but my goodness we just couldn't get past them to the hogfish and snapper. We must of literally released over 75 grouper today and broke off well over 20 - "lots of retying". A couple nice hog fish mad their way on board, but the bigger mango's were lock-jawed, as we only had shorts for the day. I thank you all a great job on turning those grouper on light tackle... Capt. Dan
Back up and Running....
Hello everyone, I know it's been a while but I'm back up and running and it sure was good to be back out today. The Young Boats restoration team did a tremendous job fixing my boat from the accident, and it looks good as new. For today's trip, I had Jason and Frank on board and we did something a little bit different. I took the guys down South in the 30ft range and we targeted mangrove snapper. I have to have the right conditions to do this and today is was perfect. Calm sea's and free lined live shrimp on a 1/8th oz jig head did the trick for us. We boated some beautiful snapper, released numerous gags and so many grunts I lost count. I thank you both and great job.... Capt. Dan
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Happy New Year everyone and I wish you all a great and prosperous upcoming year. I'm looking forward to it for sure and personally hoping for a healthy year and able to put all the health set backs I've had in the past. I'll be off the water for a bit, as I'm getting some work done on the boat, so it will be a week or so until I'm back on the big pond - looking forward to targeting some trout and sheepshead for the winter months. Once again I thank you all for following my posts and I'll see you on the water soon. Let's go fishing... Capt. Dan
