If my boat would have had enough gas, I think we could of made it to Mexico today. An absolute beautiful day offshore Crystal River in search of cobia and I have Mike and Mike to thank for the great trip. Leaving from Pete's Pier Marina this morning at 8am, we ran to the "bait bar" and filled the live well with an assortment of pinfish, blue runners, bally hoo etc... With the live well full of goodies, we targeted some of my favorite cobia locations in the 15ft to 25ft range and we caught some hard fighting cobia. A nice surprise you don't see every day in our region is barracuda and we actually saw several today. We gave them a shot with various lures and live baits, but no takers today on this trip. Thank you both for a great offshore day and I hope to see you again soon... Capt. Dan

The cobia did what they can sometimes do best, and that's make an angler go crazy. I had my great friends and clients Bill and Karen on board and they wanted to experience a drag pulling cobia. We left from Pete's Pier Marina this morning, caught a couple dozen pin fish and ran to a near shore wreck to find a cobia. There was another boat in the area and we patiently waited for them to move, before we anchored up and gave it our best. In a short time, we had a couple cobia surfacing next to the boat, but they had lock jaw today. Refusal after refusal was what we experienced, so we pulled anchor and saved the day with a nice catch of trout and a bonus flounder to end the day. Thank you both as always for the wonderful time and look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Cobia...

We changed it up today and targeted some bigger game species for Mishel and Earl on their day two charter. With the cobia run just starting up, we ran offshore to one of my favorite locations and the cobia were there. Once we anchored up, about 10 cobia came to the surface and it was time to cast out a couple live pin fish. An immediate hook up was on order and in a couple hours time, we landed four cobia and lost two I estimated in the 30lb range. I just love the hard fighting battle these fish give an angler and you both did an outstanding job today. Here's Mishel and Earl with the first cobia we brought boat side today... Capt. Dan

A fun father and son full day charter out of Crystal River today and Rick and Everett had a ball. Leaving from Pete's Pier Marina just after 8am, we made our run offshore to some scattered rock piles and see what we could find. Casting jigs, free lining live shrimp and bottom fishing with Hank Brown jigs produced a mixed bag of treats including; trout, grouper, lady fish, sea bass, mackerel, grunts and even a early arrival cobia. My young angler Everett did great and nothing brings more joy to this Captains than seeing a young fisherman catch a bunch of fish. I thank you all for the fun time and look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan
