Reds in the Rain...

Not the best weather today for us as I had Jason on board, but we fought the rain and made it happen. Jason and I had grouper plans today, but unfortunately the stiff West wind and non stop on and off morning showers kept us inshore. We hit the points with live pin fish and it was pretty good. The big surprise was in a heavy, gusty down pour - the red fish bite was awesome. We released some fine red fish, kept our two and the day was made... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Reds & Gags..

Good to be back on the gags! It's definitely not prime grouper season yet, but it's sure is getting better. Bill and Fred were my guests today and the day started on the points targeting the reds. The red fish bite was good and live shrimp did the trick for us. Next though, we made the run offshore in the bumpy seas and found some gags. The grouper bite was surprisingly good and the team turned three nice keepers to show for the day. I thank you both and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

A fun day with Jim on board and he came solo, for a great first time experience. Jim and I began our day on the outgoing tide, catching a couple snook and a fine slot red fish to bend the rod. I didn't have a bunch of tide to work with, but we made it happen. For the rest of our day we did the rock pile game and did well on mangrove snapper and a keeper gag. A nice variety and I thank you Jim... Capt. Dan

Seafood Sampler...

A beautiful day with a fun team again with Ann, Lauren, Kayle and Brandon being my guests. We had a ball on the rock piles catching a mix of trout, grunts, snapper, grouper, etc... on live shrimp. The action is usually just about every drop and with young anglers on board, there's nothing better. The tide turned around noon, and we finished up our day on the mangrove points finding a couple red fish. I thank you all and I can't wait until next time... Capt. Dan

A little mix of rock jumping and inside redfishing with Mr. Clell on board. He and I left from the Plantation on Crystal River and made run to about 8ft of water and sent down some live shrimp on Hank Brown jig heads. We did well with a fine limit of snapper, plus some grunts, macks and released a couple small gags. The turned just before noon, so we hit the points and found a couple reds. The redfish action wasn't quite as hot as yesterday, but we did Ok with a couple keepers and a whopper over-slot. Always a fun time with you and here's Clell's largest red fish to date... Capt. Dan

Settin' The Hook Team...

What a day to start the week and the Settin' the Hook ladies team had an awesome Crystal River charter. I had the pleasure of having Olivia, Ann and Michelle on board with some fantastic action. Every day on the water is a great day, but some are more special than others and today was exceptional. The red fish action was so great, and a combination of live pinfish and live shrimp kept us busy. We also had some bonus species of trout, snapper, sheepshead etc.. to fill out our day. I thank you all and congratulations on a terrific day... Capt. Dan

Reds on Fire...

A perfect morning with Nicole and Joyce on board and the ladies had some fantastic red fish action. We fished the tide today just for red fish and the slightly cooler gulf temperature from yesterday's rain, fired up the red fish. We presented live shrimp and cut bait on the points for our success. The team caught some fine reds to slot size, to over slot and I thank you both for the great morning... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Windy Reds...

A stiff West wind today! You have to love it for the water it pushes in, but it limits you to where you can run. Day two with the Bosworth team and red fishing was going to be our game plan for the day. The seas were to rough to go outside, but we had some good red fish action to save the day. I've been using live shrimp most of the time on my recent charters, but today I gave the old cut lady fish a try. Well, it did the trick and immediately we hooked up. In very short time the team caught some fine red fish, but unfortunately that was the only bite to get going today. The winds increased even more, so we called it a day. I thank you all for two great days and I look forward to next year... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Gags & Reds...

Day one with the Bosworth team and we left Macrae's at 8am and headed to the red fish points. We just set up on the last minutes of the incoming tide and free lined live shrimp in the mullet schools, for a fine limit of mid slot red fish. The guys did great and the rest of our day we jumped rock to rock catching grunts and grouper. The gags were biting, but most were shy of the keeper size, except Will turned a beauty to seal the deal. A fun time and good action; I'll see you all tomorrow... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

What a great day today with Steve and Billy on board and we ran offshore, where we left them biting yesterday. I got the boat positioned in about 18ft of water and the team sent down some live shrimp. We fished about an hour and a half and we had on stop action with snook, red fish, mangrove snapper, trout, grunts and some gag grouper. A couple of the species were surprises and the abundance of trout offshore, is quite interesting. I believe the hot water temperature sends some of the inshore shore species offshore for comfort and it's always an adventure on the big pond... Capt. Dan
