Hot Homosassa Reds...

The summer heat didn't give us break today and it was a toasty one on the big pond. I had the pleasure of having the Athens family on board and we spent the mornings incoming tide red fishing. I had to move around a bit to find them, but we eventually did. Live shrimp in the mullet schools did the trick and we spent the afternoon rock pile jumping. On the rocks, we had good action with mango's, grunts, small gags, mackerel, lady fish and jacks. Pretty steady action and it's always fun to put a bend in the rod. This was my last trip before I head out to Wyoming, so stay tuned for some fishing updates from the Wild West..... Capt. Dan

Tough Tarpon...

Always a fun time with Joe on board and for today's trip, tarpon were on the target list. I did make a couple stops on the way out for red fish and Joe secured a fine upper slot fish for his dinner. We left the keys and went to the tarpon grounds. Well, to say the least - the tarpon were tough. The wind swap out of the East had them just rolling up and down and not "in a happy" mood. We tried an assortment of live and artificial baits, but wasn't meant to be. Still, it's always great to be in fish, see them roll and I thank you Joe as always for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

A good mix with yesterdays team on board again and we had a great day. Our trip began leaving from the Plantation on Crystal River and we got a jump on the outgoing tide for the red fish. Well, we hit it good and one stop produced three fine slot red fish as they cooperated on live shrimp on a jig head. Next though, I ran offshore a bit to some ledges and had some steady action with the mango's, grunts, small gags and a beautiful hefty cobia. The gang was all smiles and I thank you for two great days of fishing... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Rain & Reds....

Well, the weather cut us short today, but we were able to at least get a couple hours of good red fishing in. I was joined by my good friend Capt. William Toney and we fished the Marique party to some pretty good red fishing. A slight break in the rain allowed us to hit a couple outer keys for the reds and they sure were there. We had close to a double digit couple hours of fishing and live shrimp on a jig head was the bait of choice. I thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Reds...

Day two with the Euart team in Homosassa and my crew today was on a red fishing mission. Pat, Lucy and Austin were my team and they did fantastic on the Homoosassa red fish. We basically jumped from rocky point to rocky point and free lined live pin fish with great success. The young anglers caught a fine limit of reds and I sure am proud of them. A beautiful day and here's myself and my team with one of today's beauty's... Capt. Dan

Team Sugarmill Woods...

The gang was back on board today with Mel, Bill and Jerry and it's always a great time. I ran back offshore again for the good trout action and we did well. It was a bit slower than the last two days, but still pretty steady with a mixed bag. Jigging MirrOlure Lil' Johns once again was the deal. We also anchored on a small rock for some great sea bass action, plus releasing the usual grouper too. To end the day Mel brought in s whopper 35" snook and Bill a fine upper-slot redfish. A wonderful time with you all and I thank you... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

The Novinger team with me today and we had a ball. We made the run to 10ft of water and some awesome action. Trout, sea bass, gags, lady fish etc... kept us busy. Watermelon provoker MirrOlure's were the flavor of the day on 1/8th oz jig heads. We secured a solid catch offshore and finished up the afternoon with a fine snook and upper-slot red fish. I thank you all for the great time and look forward to next time... Capt. Dan

Chazz Slam..

A nice inshore slam today with Carol and Bill on board and it was a beautiful day. I was out of Homosassa and I made the trek south. We used DOA glow jerk baits to start the day and caught a couple nice trout and sight fished a beautiful snook at 31". The tide got right about 1pm and we red fished the afternoon. It wasn't to great, but we caught a pair and we all had a great day. Here's Carol with a beautiful Chazz snook... Capt. Dan

Insane WIND....

30knt winds, oh MY!!! Yes folks it was a bit blowy today for us. I was on a big group trip out of the Homosassa Fishing Club and we made the best of it. White caps and 2-3ft swells on the flats; it was tough going. I did the best I could to get out of the wind and Darren, Rich and Curt had a good catch of red fish and trout for the conditions. You guys hung in there great and I thank you. We'll see you soon... Capt. Dan

The wind is not your friend..... Yes folks, it was howling for us today and even though it wasn't the best conditions; we made a good day out of it. Shane, Bart and Murray we my guest and we cork rigged our way to a fine limit of trout. Watermelon red/flak Lil' Johns were the flavor of the day and some quality trout were brought on board. The tide wasn't the best for red fishing, but we picked up 2 lower slot fish and I thank you all for the great time... Capt. Dan
