Homosassa Mix...

A great day with the West party in Homosassa and we had a fine mix. We spent the majority of the day after the morning rains, offshore jigging some nice trout. MirrOlure Lil' Johns did their job bringing in a mix of species and the action was very steady all day. The team secured a fine limit of trout and we were lucky to find a pair of keeper red fish to wrap up the day. I thank you all and great job everyone... Capt. Dan

Hot Front Bite...

A big weather change is on the way and on my, the fish were feeding today. I had the pleasure of having the Dauchess party on board and they did great on the trout and reds. It was blowing pretty hard out of the NW, so we tucked up in the creeks the best we could and had a very good afternoon. Live shrimp was our bait of the day and I thank you all for the fun time... Late Take Off Slam...

With the morning tides being so terrible lately, I decided to just fish the afternoon incoming tide with John and Chris and it was a perfect decision. The guys met me at the Plantation just before noon and we had a terrific afternoon. A nice limit of trout were caught on DOA jerk baits, plus a couple red fish as the tide kept coming in on the points. The weather and conditions were so nice and Chris even caught two snook to complete his first Crystal River inshore slam. You guys had quite the day and great job... Capt. Dan

Back on the Water....

Hello everyone and I first want to thank all of you that have checked in with me and sent prayers as I go through another bump in the road. I'm all healed up from my surgery and now I'm doing a couple cycles of chemotherapy. It's keeping me down a little bit, but we're going to get through it and keep on fishing. Today though, I was back on the big pond with Jason on board and we caught a mix of red fish, sheepshead, grouper and grunts. I had hopes in trying to tackle some snook, but the gusty East wind blew all the water out and made fishing the inside impossible. We dropped down on a couple ledges, released several sheepshead and found a pair of lower slot red fish on one of the outer points before we called it a day. Always a good time and it sure feels like spring out there... Capt. Dan

COLD Trout....

It was a cold one out there today folks and my solo client Larry was ready to go for it. We reached the gulf and was greeted to 52 degree water temperature. That's really cold for us and it was to bumpy to sheepshead fish, so we started at the mouth of the river and moved back east. I tied on some MirrOlure Lil' John jigs and we basically jigged the channel edge and did quite well. Nine keeper trout came on board, as well as a small snook and red fish to complete a slam. I thank you Larry and here's the first one of the day... Capt. Dan

Labor Day Reds.

Pretty windy for us today on this Labor Day and Bill and Jerry were ready to give it a go. Red fishing was our plan, but the bite was slow today. We caught a couple rat reds right away and moved around a bunch. We finally went in the Ozello back country where Bill caught his first snook and Jerry got his big red; plus having a couple come unbuttoned. Free lined pin fish under a cork got us the bigger bites, while shrimp produced the little guys. Always a good time with you both and I hope the conditions are more favorable next time... Capt. Dan

Gags and Reds...

A perfect trip today with Bill, as he was my solo guest and we had a blast. I started the trip loading up the live well with pin fish and I soon after stopped on a grouper spot. The tide was just turning to come, I set up and fish on. We free lined the pin fish to the ledge and a pair of keeper gags made their way on board. For the rest of the day we red fished the mangrove islands and did very well also. A combination of live shrimp, plus live pin fish were what the red fish were caught on and we had an hour of really good action. A fun time Bill and I thank you... Capt. Dan

Fine Reds...

Some great looking red fish today with the Johnson party and they did outstanding. We hit the points with live pin fish under corks and that was the deal. The team and I found a nice school of red fish and we had pretty much non stop action for an hour. Some of the reds were over slot but most were upper slot fish. After the red fish action, I did make a stop on a shallow ledge and we turned a pair of keeper gags to wrap up the day. A super fun time and I thank you all. Here's Amanda with a beauty of a red fish... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Reds...

A great morning on the red fish with Terry and Sam on board. I took the guys down South a bit and began fishing the mullet schools on the points. We hooked up immediately on live shrimp, but only little rat reds were keeping the rods bent. I soon swapped over to live pin fish and that was the trick. The better quality red fish definitely preferred the live pin fish and we had a really good morning. I thank you both and hope to see you in the near future... Capt. Dan

Big Tide...

A whopper of a tide today and it was rolling in with the West wind we had. Jason and Mike were the team today and we pretty much had the same results as yesterday. A red fish here and there, but no concentrations of fish other than large mullet schools. Live pin fish under a cork were the ticket for the couple that we caught and once again I thank you both for the fun morning... Capt. Dan
