A special treat for me today and I had my first charter with some over seas clients on board. I met the group at the Plantation on Crystal River and we made our way to the flats. (The guys introduced their names, but please excuse me, I can't remember)..... Well, I kept it simple for fishing, anchored up on a couple rock piles and chummed in some macks. The tide was pretty weak going out, but we had a nice variety of mackerel, grouper, sea bass, lady fish and sharks. The gang enjoyed every minute and I made some great memories for them. I thank you all for the wonderful time and I hope to fish with you in the years to come... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mix...

A great mix catch today with Rick, Joe and Mike on board and with the variety of species - these guys are going to eat great. We met at Pete's Pier Marina just after 8am and began our Crystal River Charter on the rocks. We targeted sheepshead and though the bite wasn't fast and furious; we caught a nice variety. Grunts, Spanish mackerel, grouper, sheepshead and sea bass kept our rods bent until the tide was right to run inshore and find some trout. The trout action was excellent in the creeks and using DOA jerk baits in the creeks - we quickly put a fine catch of trout in the box. A great day and nice variety, I thank you all for the great time... Capt. Dan

Cold Water Sheeps...

The weather was in our favor today and wow, what a beautiful day. Rick was my solo guest for the day and you couldn't have asked for more perfect conditions. Leaving from Pete's Pier Marina, we experienced a little morning fog to the sheepshead grounds but it soon cleared. The gulf has cooled to a very chilly 51 degrees and the bite was non existent until the tide turned to go out. With the warmer inshore waters running out and the sun warming the gulf a degree a two, it turned the sheepshead on. Rick and I had some good action on various ledges and rock piles for the afternoon, plus a gag grouper or two. A fine catch of sheepshead ended the day and I thank you for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Inside and Out...

Definitely a fun group on board with me today and we changed it up a bit. The Homosassa Fishing Club was in town and we brought the crew up to Crystal River. Myself and Capts. Mark Zorn and William Toney had the pleasure of fishing the Wait party and we loaded up. Big tout catches and mixed bags of sheepshead, sea bass, flounder, grunts and mackerel filled the buckets. My team did great and it turned out to be a beautiful day. I thank you all for a wonderful time and I hope we can get tomorrow in, with the coming weather... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Trout & Sheeps...

A fun day with a great father and son team out of Crystal River and these guys had a good one. Todd and Tyler were the team and they definitely kept the rods bent catching trout and sheepshead. The day began throwing DOA jerk baits on a shallow oyster bar and catching and releasing some beautiful trout. With our arms warmed up, our next stop were some offshore sheepshead. The sheepshead bite was outstanding and we landed well over forty, just keeping a bakers dozen for a meal or two. Tyler brought in a beautiful, hefty sea bass that was over 16" to add to the catch. A fun, busy fish catching day and I thank you both for the fun time... Capt. Dan

A couple days off the water with some family in town and I had a great Saturday, celebrating my nephews first birthday.... Back to work today though and wooooo, it was a chilly ride. Bill was my solo guest and what a great 1/2 day charter he had. Bill lives local and fishes the back waters of Ozello on his own.  He doe's great on trout and red fish, but he wanted to target something different today. He asked about sheepshead, seas bass and pompano and believe it or not, he caught all three species. We fished a couple shallow rock piles and live shrimp on a knocker rig did the trick. A fun, but chilly day on the water and I look forward to seeing you again. Here's Bill with a fine Crystal River pompano... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Mixed Bag...

What a treat to have a great father and son team on board today. Sam and Sam Sr. were my guests and at 93 yrs old, Sam Sr. was catching them up. I wanted to check a couple areas to see if the big black sea bass have showed up, and they're there. The guys had them coming in one after the other and a couple nice grunts were mixed in with them. With a box full of sea bass, we ran back inshore and caught a handful of real nice trout. Not big numbers in the trout, but all upper to over slot fish. To end the day, I pulled up on one of my favorite oyster bars, and the team caught six red fish with two of them making it home to dinner. I thank you both for the great day and I look forward to seeing you guys again... Capt. Dan

The sun finally came out today and it was a beautiful day. Mark and Mark Jr. were along with me for the day and we stayed on the shallow rocks and had a fine mixed catch. Grouper was our first order of business and we jumped rock to rock casting plugs and catching an outstanding limit of quality gag grouper. With plenty of time to kill, we took it easy and worked some more shallow rock piles and caught an assortment of species. There wasn't fast and furious action, but enough to keep the rods bent from time to time. A great day on the Nature Coast and I thank you guys for the fun time... Capt. Dan

A foggy start to this mornings Crystal River Charter and Phil was back in town from Pennsylvania, ready to catch some fish. We began today's trip casting plugs on the shallow ledges and in just a matter of minutes, Phil had his limit of beautiful grouper. On our next stop, we anchored on the rocks and filled the cooler with a mixed bag of groceries for a few fish fry's for Phil to take home. The action was great and to top off the day, we drifted the shallow "yellow" hard bottom areas off the keys and topped off a fine limit of trout. It was as good as it gets today and I can't thank you enough for an excellent day. Here's Phil with quite the catch... Capt. Dan

Hello everyone, today was one of those magical October days where everything comes together just right. Merrill, Robert, and Chuck were my guest today for their annual October grouper trip and we hit it out of the park. We left from Pete's Pier Marina, filled the live well with frisky live pin fish and headed West. A beautiful day and we began dropping some live baits on one of my favorite ledges. A quick keeper came aboard and several break offs soon followed. It's always frustrating loosing grouper, but it's part of the game in such shallow water bottom fishing. Mid morning, the tide was getting just right to drag a plug and the gags were in a aggressive mood. Each pass produced a keeper gag and one was in the upper teens. The group reached their limit and we ran to a shallow rock for a mixed bag. Once anchoring, the pompano were swarming the boat and we had a ball. An awesome mixed catch of the usual species , but several pompano were added as well. I can't thank you all enough for a great day and congratulations on a fantastic day... Capt. Dan
