Tarpon!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone, well it's definitely about as good as it gets right now for the 2015 tarpon season. The last couple days, I've seen more fish than ever and we've jumped a couple really big fish. This is tarpon season at it's prime and luckily I was able to take some good pictures off the flats with some big schools of fish to share with you. Most of the fish have jumped a spit the hook, but that's all fun too... Capt. Dan

Tarpon On the Fly...

A fantastic day with Joe and Rick and we spent the last two days targeting tarpon on the fly. Yesterday wasn't the best with the overcast skies and low visibility; but today was outstanding. We had lots of shots at tarpon and once the tide got "right," the tarpon came up happy. We presented the fly beautifully to a laid up fish and Joe did great fighting it. He brought the leader into the rod several times to certify the catch and she eventually tail wrapped the leader and broke off. I really enjoyed the last two days with you both; I thank you again and look forward to our future trips... Capt. Dan

Incredible Day...

Everyday is great on the water, but as many of you know; some days are special. Today I had Cheryl on board and what a day we had. We jumped a beautiful tarpon and fought it for several minutes before it spit the hook. We saw a couple others, but left them to pursue some other species. Next on the list, we found a fine triple tail which was another first for Cheryl. After the triple tail, we were near one of my favorite snook locations, so I suggested giving snook a try. Believe it or not; the plan came together and we landed a beauty of a snook. To top off the day and another first, I hit the Ozello back country and she landed six fine red fish to end our day. A wonderful day and I thank you for the fun time... Capt. Dan

Family Day Tarpon...

A Sunday fun day with my wife Becky on board and we spent a couple hours casting at some rolling tarpon. The conditions were perfect today and with the light chop, you could easily see the fish rolling. Today's bait of the day were the trolling model DOA bait busters and they sure work great. We landed one tarpon today in the 40lb class and it sure was a fun day. The weather looks great for the week and lets hope for more silver kings... Capt. Dan

Tarpon Fever...

Hello everyone, the last three days have really heated up with tarpon action. My clients and I have put a couple in the air and had some great shots on the fly too. June is my favorite month and the season usually peaks in the coming weeks. A great day with Earl and Mishel and here's Mishel's tarpon from today's trip, giving us a dance... Capt. Dan

Triple Tail & Tarpon...

A good day with Steve and Kevin on board and we tried our luck at Tarpon and cruised around for some triple tail. I've been on the tarpon flats the last couple of days and we've seen quite a few fish and had some shots; but haven't put many in the air. Today though, we did jump a whopper on a DOA bait buster in the afternoon to see an impressive jump. While the tide was slack, we did run the crab trap buoys and find a couple beautiful triple tail to top off the day. I thank you all for the good time and here's Steve with a fine triple tail... Tarpon Catch...

A couple days on the tarpon grounds the last couple of days and as many of you know; there's no guarantees when targeting tarpon. The migration is definitely coming in to shape and more fish are arriving daily. Today, we jumped a couple and brought one boat side on the fly. One of the fish we actually "hooked" in the dorsal fin and it was quite a battle. This was a first for me and I couldn't believe it. A great day on the flats and lets hope for more good tarpon weather... Capt. Dan

Tarpon Season Closer!!!!

What a day to end the tarpon season. It's been a fantastic season and as I switch gears from tarpon, gag grouper season opens tomorrow. I had Joe on board for the day and we found some great schools of fish. Once again they were random rolling fish, so DOA bait busters were the baits of choice. He and I jumped several fish and brought two to the boat. An unbelievable day and I can't thank you enough for the great time. Here's Joe with the first silver king of the day... Capt. Dan

Tarpon Season Ending....

These last two days have been great spending it with Don and Patsy and their tarpon determination paid off. Tarpon season is winding down and usually by July fourth, it's pretty much over; except for some river fish. We checked several different areas the last couple days and saw tarpon on all of them. The fish weren't  congregated, but rather rolling here and there. DOA bait busters presented ahead of the fish work outstanding for artificials and we also landed one on a live mullet. I had a fun time spending four days with you both and I can only hope we can do it again next year. Here's Don with a beautiful tarpon released to fight another day... Capt. Dan

To the Boat.....

Another fantastic day with Don from Montana on board and we chased down the tarpon again. It was a very slow start to the day for us with not much happening. We check several places, but with the strong incoming tide, the poons didn't want to pop up. Finally around 2pm, the tide started dropping out and the tarpon began rolling and we had some shots. We presented a DOA bait buster perfect to a rolling fish and we were hooked up. A good 30 minute fight and we brought the fish to the boat before the hook pulled; but we had a great fight. A great time and here's Don in the heat of the battle with a Nature Coast tarpon... Capt. Dan
