Crystal River Tripletail..

A fun day with Rodger and Ron and we made the best of the windy day and caught some fine triple tail and trout. We had hopes of sending a tarpon in the air this morning, but the choppy conditions just weren't meant to be. So for plan B, we used DOA deadly combos on the flats for some nice trout and ran some buoys for a couple triple tail. Triple tail are always a welcomed catch, because they readily take a shrimp and are quite tasty on the table. We had had a fun day and I thank you both for the wonderful time... Capt. Dan

Triple Tail & Tarpon...

A good day with Steve and Kevin on board and we tried our luck at Tarpon and cruised around for some triple tail. I've been on the tarpon flats the last couple of days and we've seen quite a few fish and had some shots; but haven't put many in the air. Today though, we did jump a whopper on a DOA bait buster in the afternoon to see an impressive jump. While the tide was slack, we did run the crab trap buoys and find a couple beautiful triple tail to top off the day. I thank you all for the good time and here's Steve with a fine triple tail... Crystal River Steady Action...

A pretty incredible day offshore Crystal River and Sharon, Bill and Pam got to experience it. I picked up the gang at Pete's Pier Marina a little after 8am and headed West. The forecast was calling for very favorable conditions, but the winds picked up a bit and it was choppy with a good swell mixed in. We toughed out the ride, anchored on one break and it was ON! Evey drop produced a sheepshead, grunt or grouper and I was a busy boy. The team had to bring a bunch of fish in to feed the big family in town and I think they did just that. With a box full, we called it a day and even picked up a bonus triple tail on a buoy to top off the trip. I thank you all for the excellent day and congratulations on an outstanding catch... Capt. You Have to Love March....

March is the turn around month for us here on the Nature Coast and as winter rolls behind us, a whole new bunch of species come in to play. Pat and Michael were my guests today and with weak mid day tides, offshore was the plan again. Sheepshead, grunts, grouper and a couple bonus triple tail were the species for us. The sheepshead bite was excellent once again and we encountered some real large fish in excess of 5lbs while releasing over a dozen of that size. A couple drops on various rocks filled out our day; until we ran the crab trap buoys and encountered a few triple tail. It's that time of year again and they are always a welcomed bonus catch for the day. I thank you both for an excellent trip and look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

A beautiful day offshore Crystal River and what an excellent charter. Skip, Chuck and David were back for their annual fall grouper trip and the grouper were in the mood for Rapala x-raps. The guys trolled up a quick limit of grouper and by 11am, we were heading to the rocks to catch a bunch of grunts for their church fish fry. The action was non-stop with grunts, snapper and a bonus pompano to add to their catch. With a cooler full of fish, we called it a day; but not before we picked up a hefty triple-tail on a crab buoy to end our trip. A fantastic day and I can't thank you all enough. Here's the gang with a fine mixed catch... Capt. Dan

Crystal River-Grand Slam!!!

My guest Matt accomplished what only very few Nature Coast anglers in our area have done and that's a Grand Slam. Snook, trout, red fish and we even found a bonus tripletail, all in today's Crystal River charter. Matt only gets to fish a couple times a year, so I pointed out some locations for him to try and we caught some different species in all the areas we covered. Today's trout were scattered inshore on the flats and we caught a couple keepers on DOA glow jerk baits. Next, we caught a beautiful snook jigging MirrOlure Lil' John's along the rocks and also landed a hefty tripletail floating on a nearby crab buoy, that couldn't resist a shrimp.  And to end the day, we hit the creeks and sight fished a slot red fish to top our charter. I thank you Matt for the great day and a big congratulations on your achievement... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Bonus Snook...

The weatherman was right today with the 15mph NW winds and it definitely made today a little challenging. I had Mishel and Earl on board out of Pete's Pier Marina and we gave it our best to find a couple grouper. The water was quite dirty and the floating grass was an issue which made trolling difficult, but when we had a clean drag, we caught a couple keepers. The CD Rapala fire tiger 14's were the plugs of choice. For an extra bonus,  Mishel caught a beautiful snook while trolling for grouper to top off the day. A nice triple tail was added to the mix and a windy, but fun day out of Crystal River was had by all. I thank you both again and we'll see you soon... Capt. Dan

With calm seas, crystal clear water and great clients, today was a beautiful day out of Crystal River. Mark and Dave joined me for a full day charter and these gentlemen just wanted some great fish catching action. Running a little ways offshore to some scattered rocks in 6ft of water, we began the day catching some great trout on the DOA deadly combo/MirrOlure Lil' John combination rigs. Usually when the water depth is 5ft or deeper, I just use a jig with out a cork. However, due to the calm conditions, the clacking cork was calling up the trout from the deeper water. The guys had their limit on a couple drifts and running to another location, I spotted a nice tripletail on a piece of floating debris. Quickly hooking on a live shrimp, the tripletail was on jumping on the end of Daves line. I made another stop on my cobia hot spot for the afteroon and once again we had had a hook up, but quickly broke off around the structure. Thank you both for a great action packed day and look forward to seeing you again soon. Here's Dave with a not to common Crystal River tripletail... Capt. Dan
