I had a father and son team on board today out of Crystal River, and Bill Jr. and Sr. had a great day. With a perfect morning incoming tide, we began the day catching several back country red fish on Pete's Piers finest live shrimp. We boated nine reds, made a quick run south and started picking up some very nice trout. Using a combination of Mirrolure Lil' Johns and DOA shrimp, the guys had some great trout action in the shallow water. For the last stop of the day, we targeted the rock piles and found a few Spanish mackerel and sea bass willing to bend our rods before we called it a day. Perfect weather, good friends and a nice catch; I thank you both for the wonderful time... Capt. Dan

Trout's Open All Year!!!!

This news is just in! Starting February 1st 2012, trout season will remain open all year. In years past, the month of February was our closed month for speckled trout. It appears trout stocks are doing great and the closed month is not necessary any longer. I look forward to having some great winter trout charters will all my clients and hope to see you all soon... I had a last minute call from one of my regular clients; Dan from New York was in town and wanted to squeeze in a 1/2 day charter. I had the morning open and Dan along with his friend Bell, spent the morning with me doing some river red fishing. It was blowing pretty hard out of the NE, so we just targeted the rock piles in the river and had a great morning. We boated 13 red fish, along with our limit of three keepers around the 23" mark and released all the others unharmed. We tried our luck at finding some trout and we caught quite a few, but mostly all shorts before the wind chased us in. It was a perfect morning just to be on the water and I thank you both for the fun time. Here's Dan with the first red fish of the morning... Capt. Dan
