On the Rocks...

A great family on board for today's Saturday charter and Mitchell, Dave and Eric had a blast. We left from Pete's Pier Marina just after 8am and made our run to the trout grounds to start the day. The wind wind up a bit out of the East which made for some fast drifting; but we did land quite a few under sized trout and some keepers while giving it a try. With the choppy conditions though, I knew a best bet was anchoring up on the shallow rocks and having some fun bending the rod. The team stayed busy with the usual mix of species and once again just a live shrimp on a knocker rig was the bait of choice. I thank you all for the fun time and I look forward to seeing you all again soon... Capt. Dan

What a great day inshore with Steve, Chris and Scott and these gentlemen had an outstanding day. We spent the morning hours targeting trout and made some long drifts in the 9ft range over good grass patches. Bourbon colored MirrOlure Lil' Johns were the baits of the day and some good quality trout were caught as well. To end the day, we made a couple stops on the shallow rocks and added a little mix. A wonderful day and I thank you all for the excellent day.... Capt. Dan

Offshore Crystal River...

The day of all days to go offshore and Bill, Henry and Steve hit it out of the park. I met the guys at 8am and we headed West. When I reached the mouth of the river it was like glass, so we made the run to 30ft. I anchored and the day was pretty much non stop action. Live shrimp on knocker rigs kept the rods bent and it was some fantastic fishing. We also caught some blue runners that we used as live bait and landed a 15lb gag grouper on one. It was one of those picture perfect days and I thank you all for the great day... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Offshore...

The perfect day to go offshore with Meredith and Blake for the day and the rods stayed bent. I took the couple to the 25ft range and dropped down live shrimp on knocker rigs. The bite was on and literally every drop produced a fish. We had a nice variety of species and a real beauty of a mangrove snapper too. The water was clear and seeing the fish swim around under the boat is always a treat. What A fun day and I look forward to doing it again soon... Capt. Dan

Ladies of the Gulf Variety...

An awesome day and an even better crew on board today. I had the pleasure of having the "Ladies of the Gulf" on board and we had a great mixed bag. Today's trip began drifting offshore a bit in about 6ft of water and jigging up some trout. In a couple of drifts, the team brought about a dozen beautiful trout to the boat, plus lots of lady fish keeping us busy as well. With a fine catch of Crystal River trout, our next stop was to anchor up and do some chumming. I picked one of my favorite rocks and we had plenty of variety. Free lined live shrimp in the chum slick kept us busy and I can't thank you all enough for the great day... Capt. Dan

Back on the Sheep's...

I was a bit worried with today's forecast with the high winds; but it turned out to be a beautiful day and the bite turned back on. I had Kay, Bill and Tom on board for the day and we stayed in the river for the morning hours. The trip began out quite breezy and we fished around the springs catching mangrove snapper to get the day going. We sure caught a bunch, but mostly shorts with about 8 keepers before we headed down the river. You could see the smoke stacks at the power plant starting to rise and I knew we could make it offshore. I made a couple mile run and we found some fine sheepshead jumping rock to rock to finish up the day. I thank you all for the great day and I look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

Hooked on Fishing...

A very fun and special day fishing the Grosselin family and my youngest anglers to date, Tanner and Logan did outstanding. It was a chilly one with yesterday's front passing and my boat was iced over this morning. We allowed it to warm up a bit and left the dock at 9am. I kept it fun for the young guys and fished the river for some mangrove snapper and trout. The family did great with several snapper and three keeper trout to fill out their 1/2 day trip. I thank you all for the great time and look forward to seeing you in the years to come... Capt. Dan

Flat Calm Grouper....

Today was the old saying "you could have taken a canoe offshore" kind of day; and I was very pleased to have Joe and Joanne experience it. We left from Pete's Pier just before 9am and made or way offshore. We reached the 25ft range after about a 45 minute run and quickly trolled up a limit of quality sized gag grouper. Rapala x-rap 20's were the plugs of the day and our next target was bottom fishing for a mix of species. Grunts, mango snapper, trigger fish and a hog fish kept us busy and we had a smooth ride home back to the dock. Thank you both for the great time and I'll see you soon... Capt. Dan

Chilly Sunday....

I wasn't sure what to expect for today's trip with the drastic weather change. It went from Halloween to Christmas over night and it sure was a chilly one out there today. I had Phil on board and we left the dock a bit later around 10am to allow it to warm up and calm down some. To ensure some action, we fished the river and targeted mangrove snapper, trout and snook. We did quite well on all three species and both of our snook today were over 10lbs. I did try some locations on the flats and salt river area, but didn't even have a strike. The rest of the week will be warming and hopefully the outside bite will turn back on... Capt. Dan

Follow the birds and you'll find the fish. Well, that's an old saying and it couldn't be more true off Crystal River right now. I had Bill and Karen on board for the day and even tough the grouper didn't want to play today, we had some fun action with jacks, bonito, grunts and mangrove snapper. The inshore grouper locations are tough to fish with the recent "dirty" water and the floating grass is back again; which makes trolling impossible. To make up for the slow grouper bite, we had steady action on the rocks with grunts and mango snapper and for drag screaming fun - the jacks and bonito are hard to beat. Always a great day with you both and look forward to seeing you next time. Here's Bill with a hard fighting Jack crevalle that posed for a quick picture... Capt. Dan
