Homosassa Offshore....

An unbelievable day at the Homosassa Fishing Club with some huge catches back at the dock. Myself and fellow Captains Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt, William Toney, Jim Long and Jonathan Hamilton had the pleasure of having the Smith party and the group loaded up. Ed and Von were with me for the day and we had an excellent catch. Limits of Gag and Red grouper, several grunts and snapper, Spanish mackerel and a couple trout topped off our big haul. The other boats had some excellent catches as well and this team is definitely taking back home for fine fillets. I thank you all for the excellent day and here's my team with today's excellent catch... Capt. Dan

Offshore Surprises....

A big group today out of the Plantation on Crystal River with fellow Captains Mark Zorn, Rick Spratt, Clay Shidler, Zach Hoffman and Kelly Kofmehel. We had the pleasure of fishing the ATS company and they did awesome. Great catches of red fish, snook, grouper, Spanish mackerel, black drum, flounder and grunts were brought back to the dock. My team did great with some red fish, a limit of mangrove snapper and a couple offshore surprise snook to fill out the day. A great day for the entire group and I thank you all for the fantastic day.... Capt. Dan

Hello Sunshine....

An awesome mixed bag today out of Crystal River with Jason and Deanna on board and it sure was good to be in the sunshine. I picked up the couple at the Plantation on Crystal River and we began the day targeting red fish. Our first stop produced four nice keepers and then the dolphins showed up and shut us down. With a fine of red fish on live shrimp, we made our way west and anchored down on some ledges. Grunts, mangrove snapper, lady fish and mackerel kept us busy while we sent down live shrimp on knocker rigs. The action was great, but I wanted to try a favorite spot to add a grouper to the mix. So, we made a couple mile run and found the gags. The grouper bite was excellent and we were able to turn three fine keepers,  plus a couple got the best of us as well. A fantastic day with finally some great weather - I thank you both for the great time... Capt. Dan

Mango Madness.....

Excellent mangrove snapper action today on the ledges and "wow" the bite was on. I had Kevin and his family on board for the day and we spent the day offshore. Our first stop after leaving Pete's Pier marina was filling the live well with pin fish in preparation for some grouper fishing. To get the day started, we sent down some shrimp on knocker rigs and loaded up on the mangrove snapper and grunts. The snapper bite was as good as I've seen it and it was non stop action. With our limit of mango's, we spent the rest of the day trying for some shallow water gags. We sure had some good grouper on, but they got the best of us and unfortunately broke us off. I thank you all for he fun time and look forward to seeing you in the future... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Rocks....

What a fun day with a great father and son team today out of Crystal River. Steve and Stevie joined me for some rod bending fun. We fished a couple different rock piles and ledges and found a nice assortment. Grouper, mangrove snapper and grunts kept us busy and Stevie at just seven years old did awesome. The guys did great and brought home a fine catch for a good upcoming dinner. Thank you both for a fun time and look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

Great Homosassa Grouper...

Almost a mirror image as yesterdays charter and the Bosworth family did it again. Leaving from Macrae's just before 8am, we made a stop at Bonnie the bait lady and headed West. The first stop was catching some mangroves and grunts on the shallow rocks, then the grouper grounds. The gags were very cooperative and good sized fish once again. The team put a fine grouper limit in the cooler and then we made a couple drifts back towards shore for some trout. Several fine trout were added to the mix and a great couple days are in the books. I thank you all again for the fun time and I look forward to seeing you in the future... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Rocks...

We made the 20 mile run offshore today and was it ever on! I had the pleasure of having the Bosworth family on board out of Macrae's and these guys hit it out of the park. Awesome action of grunts and mangroves on the shallow rocks to start the day. Excellent grouper action in 28ft of water with some hefty gags. And the team finished off the trip with seven fine trout drifting the grass patches in 10ft of water. What a day and I thank you all for the outstanding trip... Capt. Dan

Homosassa Rocks...

An offshore trip out of Homosassa today with the Athens family for their second charter and they did fantastic. I picked up the crew at their river house and we headed West. It was a smooth ride to the grouper grounds for a while, but by mid morning it got white capping and bumpy. The action was great for grunts and snapper on live shrimp, while the gags came aboard using thread fin herring. We hung in their as long as we could, but the conditions finally chased us in. A great couple days with you all and I look forward to seeing you every year... Capt. Dan

Shallow Rocks.....

A really good day on the shallow rock piles with Bill, Gary and Jerry and the guys loaded up. The gulf is quite warm with water temperatures in the mid 80's and for sure fire action, we hit the rocks to catch some groceries. I anchored up tide of the rocks, sent down some live shrimp on Hank Brown jig heads and the bite was on. Great action of snapper, grunts, grouper and a Spanish mackerel filled out our morning before it got to hot. A box full of fine eating fish and we called it a day. I thank you all as always for the fun time and I look forward to seeing you again soon... Capt. Dan

Crystal River Dodging Storms....

A great group on board from the Villages and Norm, Buck, Larry and Lenny did great. We began today's trip running offshore and dragging MirrOlure Lil' Johns on the grass patches in 10ft of water. The trout action was excellent and some mixed bag species of sea bass, grouper, lady fish and sharks were keeping us busy as well. We were only able to make one good drift before a heavy thunder storm chased us inshore and I hated to leave the great trout bite. Safety always comes first and we made the safe call. After dodging the storm, the team and I hit the back country looking for a high tide red fish, but the red fish Gods were not with us today. The guys still had a fine catch and I than you all for the fun time... Capt. Dan
